Well travelled
2 and a bit years ago a car pulled out onto the A9 infront of us, causing us to run into the back of him. He then claimed it was our fault and came up with various spurious claims, (A9 was 30mph actually 60mph, we didn't give way to him etc)

We lodged a claim via our legal insurance and the other solicitors failed to supply the correct court papers so we can now pursue them for damages. I'm not a legal eagle so don't understand the why's and wherefores.

As we had no use of our motorhome for over 5 months due to the damage, repairs were paid by our insurance (over £5500), our solicitor asked us about costs we incurred, like no use of motorhome for a period, at least 3 days traipsing around the Highlands trying to get it repaired (not all garages could accommodate the motorhome in their body shop), filling out various forms supplying photos and writing letters.

What do people on here think we should be looking at for our costs ?

I would list everything that you had to do and add a cost. For mileage use the gov guidelines.
Whatever you submit it will be knocked down anyway.
