Hi All,

so, I'm seeking to swap van asap. Current van has cruise control - which has been a revelation !
But how much better it would be as automatic with cruise control . . .

So the question is: if looking at an auto, how can I be sure whether it really has Comfortmatic or ZF box ??
Is there an obvious way to tell which it is ?

Comfortmatic is 6 speed. I think they were 130, 150 and 180 bhp.

ZF box proudly shouts that it's 9 speed. They were 140, 160 and 180 bhp.

I think the transition was 2019. But obviously some converters sit on older chassis stock for a while.

ZF is a proper auto, comformatic is a robotised manual. The new van has a 9 speed auto; personally if it was offered as a comformatic, I would look elsewhere. My opinion only

I had a Comfortomatic in a 3.5t Adria. OK when you get used to it but as already mentioned it’s not a true auto box, it’s a motorised manual. Now have a 9 speed ZF in a 4.5t Swift and no comparison, vastly improved drive and the bonus is mpg. The Adria averaged 21-22mpg, the Swift 30-34mpg in eco mode. In standard mode a few mpg less but very lively and responsive, much quicker take off when needed at junctions and great on hills. Wouldn’t ever go back to the Comfortomatic!
