Anyone had any problems with cluster flies, I recently moved to rural Wales and store my van by the barn. Going away this weekend, opened the Hab door to pack and was greeted by hundreds of flies! Sprayed the van with Raid but it's not stopping more from coming in to hibernate! Help! 😣😣😣

If you have EHU available then I'd plug in (on a timer) and get one of those blue lights as used in Restaurant kitchens.
Set your EHU timer so that it comes on for say 2 hours per day (I'd suggest just after dusk).
As long as your van is sealed as much as you can, then it will eventually get them all.

The females lay eggs in earthworm burrows apparently and I guess there are lots of those in Wales.
I took think an industrial fly deterant / killer light will be your best option.

We live in a rural location and have to deal with cluster flies every autumn. The cluster in the attic and in the room above the garage. The only way to keep them at bay, IMHO, is the fog and spray every week mid September to 3rd week October and then 1st two weeks of sun around Feb/March. I use the max size of these products https://pestcontrolsupermarket.com/...MI-oygtI2jggMV0PntCh00eQLWEAAYAyAAEgIcPfD_BwE
After 18 years they are under control, however, return every year when it turns cold. Good luck.

Thanks all, have ordered a sonic deterrent to leave plugged in while on EHU, takes about 4 weeks to become effective, hopefully it'll do the job 😁

I’ve spent quite a bit if time dealing with these on MHs & boats over the years - they particularly like furled sails. They don’t usually get into the van unless you have bad panel gaps. They tuck themselves away in the narrow gap between the frame and doors and happily stay there during the winter. They’re attracted to colonies of other cluster flies so numbers build up. Unlike most other flies they don’t carry any health risk. They usually start to move in about October time, but completely disappear in Spring/Summer. If I open the doors in autumn & winter I liberally spray the door gaps before opening the door and am poised for further spraying as the door opens further . The objective is not to kill them en masse but to zap any that fly into the van. If you leave all the doors open any inside will usually disperse. Watch out for queen wasps, they often over winter in the same kind of places.

As much use as t!ts on a bull.
Same idea as sonic rodent deterrents.....they don't work either.

The best idea is in late summer to move your van into the shade, cluster flies love warm sun but don’t like shade.

The other day was warm and sunny and suddenly had a flock/herd/swarm of Ladybirds, they were all over the van and as fast as I kicked them out more were back in, had to batten down the hatches and hide!

We have them in the top floor bedroom. House is only 19 yrs old. We had pest controllers in and they told us only thing that works is regular use of smoke bombs during autumn. Available from Amazon

I had the same thing at the Chertsey site, don't mind ladybirds too much but was still removing them 3 months later! 🤣

About 3 yrs ago we had the Ladybirds descend on us and think we were still kicking them out last year!
