Lovely!!!

N reg is classic? Thanks for making me feel old :(

::bigsmile:

I think of these as the last classic Merc vans...
Sprinters seemed to nose dive after mk1s

If I didn't have my transit I'd get it in an instant!

Cheers James

Nice engines the 2.9s with gearstick on the floor, ultra reliable much better than the one that followed it, the 2.7cdi.
I think you are confusing this with the sprinter !

Think TN/T1

Later versions were renamed and marketed as “Vario”

Yes the Vario went to 4.2 litre which is what all the ones I have seen have been on.
The 2.9 122 Bhp sprinter 1995-2000 was far better than the 2.7 cdi 156bhp from year 2000-2006.

I thought the 310d and 410d ceased in 1995 afterwards being 312d and 412d?

It's 3500kg gross weight and single rear wheels so not much use for sitting a body on the back.

That’s where I would disagree. I preferred the 2.7 engine, but not the sprint shift gearbox. The pre 2000/2001 had a 4G-Tronic auto option. That went to 5G-Tronic option alongside the sprint shiftshit when the engines went to CDI.

I had forgotten about the big 4.2’s though

there were plenty of companies used that chassis at the time
often with smaller engines
OK but I would bet anybody doing a conversion themselves wouldn't come in under 3500kg, a nice conversion would be a body off a old Clou or PhoeniX but that won't be that light, first two I looked at were on 4t chassis and gross 4600kg.

Not my cup of tea ....as others said 3.5t single rear wheels make it not worthn while. It will be gutless aswell id imagine
