Is anyone aware of an app that shows parking, either paid or otherwise, for bigger vehicles in city centres. We're new to motorhoming and have sometimes found it difficult to stop in places for a casual look around.

Many thanks in advance.

It only 6 metres but too big to fit into a standard parking bay.

There was a chap who used to write to councils and try and provide MHers with a service but I think he has given up.
The Camper Contact and Park4night apps show parking and that is probably your best bet. However just checked Park4night for Bristol and it shows Wapping Wharf car park which is always full when I want to park car. I have never seen a MH in there.
Your best bet is to post a specific location question on here and hope a local replies.

It’s a perennial topic and a problem in UK. I use google maps a lot and street view within that to examine access and parking notices. For larger cities then park and ride. On street parking just outside centres is often a possibility.

Having motorhomed for 11 years now, we have come to the conclusion that it is best to try and keep out of city centres. Wherever possible, we choose a site from which we can either walk or get a bus into cities that we wish to visit. We have done this for York, Harrogate, Lincoln etc.
In France we have, on occasion, stopped on an aire in an adjacent small town and caught a train into larger cities such as Lyons or Dijon for example.

Thanks everybody. Maybe this is something that could be added to camper connect.

Sorry if there is different information available but according to the BPA
"In all cases your vehicle must be parked entirely within the bay markings; otherwise you may receive a parking ticket, even if other vehicles were poorly parked when you arrived. If your vehicle is too large to fit in the bay there is also a possibility that you will receive a parking ticket. You should try to find a bay where your vehicle does fit"
I had this confirmed by the council traffic office locally
