Just catching up on the weekly round up and horror on horror I read that you can no longer stay over night at Cite Europe. Anyone have experience of this, has any been moved on, whats the reason behind it, how are they policing it.
If this is the case we will seriously have to rethink our return trips home. They always involve, parking up, loading up to the gunnels with French plonk, a meal at one of the restaurants and a good night kip before catching an early train around the corner the next morning. :frowny:

Been like this for a couple of years now - too many itinerants. Not sure how it is being policed but with the gendarmerie overlooking the area probably easy for plod to "move you on".

Have been told it's still okay to overnight at Auchan just north of Boulogne. If you need it there's a bourne there at the service station.

There is an Aires at Sangatte near the cemetery. This was very busy earlier this year with vans parking in the bus parking bays.

No idea why you would want to stay there overnight, plenty of good safe places away from Calais to stay,
Stayed there numerous times over the years, always felt very safe and there was alway been lots of other MH.
As I said, very convenient for tunnel, cheap Plonk, and restataurants on your doostep.

As above and they do seem to be taking over the bus parking area a few hundred yards away now.
We've stopped a good few times without any problem, as its a short drive from the tunnel.

We like Gravelines too - but it's half an hour in the wrong direction! Our fav is Wissant but it's popular and gets full early - don't park in the bus bays! There's an aire on the way into Boulogne too, looks okay but might need ramps, never used it though passed a few times.

We stayed at this place in September, very secure and about 10-15mins from Eurotunnel.

Stayed there once, didn't feel secure, can't see the appeal of a supermarket carpark apart from the obvious. We've used Gravelines and if its between April-October then this place is lovely.
Has a restaurant and there are more and shops a short bike ride away.
