Any wise owls out there know what fixing depth accessory pack i will need when replacing my remis vario 1 with a vario 2, the old outer clear plastic cover headed skywards in the last big storm, I can source a new vario 2 but I'm not entirely sure which thickness kit I will need and without entirely removing the old one I can't really use that as a guide.the accessory kits are 36-45mm or 45-55mm £80 each.. ouch.as it is all pre order and hope for a delivery date this millennium i don't really want to strip out the old one yet as I have a passable perspex sheet repair which means the van is still usable. The original brochure says 39mm insulation but obviously bodywork and roof linings need to be added to that. So I'm hoping somebody has replaced one at some point and knows the correct kit.
Thanks in advance.

Can you not place a straight edge on the outside across the hatch, measure to roof, measure to inside of van, do the sums?

Not really, the inside part of the assembly is still in place and quite a bit deeper than inner section of the roof, plus I have the perspex secured via 6mm thread and t bars accross the inner section, if it was summer and no rain forecast then that would be an option, I may have to do it if nobody else has replaced one on a similar vehicle, the year of the van is 2007 by the way.

i would think the 36 /45 will be enough i changed my remis for hekis as ilike the hekis locking system better not the same van though

@mitzimad i looked at changing to the Heki but unless i have read the data incorrectly it would require a roof cut, the remi aperture is 900 x 600 i thought but the Heki Seitz requires a slightly larger aperture 950 x 650 ish ? not in a position to measure my opening until the weather calms down a bit, if its a drop in swap i would fit the Heki every time, the more i research the Remis Vario the less i like it, mediocre gearing on the opening mechanism and at nearly £700 i would expect at least properly engineered internals.

Totally agree the Remis is really crap. It's cheap so the manufacturers love it.
