Citroen Relay
Evening all,

Having an issue with my 2018 2.0HDI Citroen Relay (88,000 miles) that I’m struggling to diagnose (leaving us stranded in Spain and requiring recovery) - since getting home no luck either.

I noticed for the first time DPF yellow regen light coming on from time to time (2-3 times for around 30 seconds or so over 1,000 miles or so) but thought not much of it thinking it was doing regens, never seen this before in the 10,000 miles or so I’ve driven the van.

Then out of the blue the light comes on and goes off after a few seconds several times in a 10 min period so the regen clearly is failing - I’m getting the text message to keep vehicle moving (was on the motorway at the time keeping the same speed and right revs etc). This led to the dreaded limp mode and check engine light,

After trying to force a couple of regens and a few engine on/off over the next day, I then got the check ad blue system error as well as the check engine message and light. The van was still trying to regen every time it got above 20MPH but failing.

A local Spanish garage plugged into their diagnostic system and no error codes other than too many failed regens. They forced a regen and then re-reviewed all codes and readings showing everything to be all good. Took it for a 15 min test drive and no problem. Tried to force another regen just in case but wasn’t needed

Got back on the motorway and within 30 miles, limp mode and check engine again (after the yellow DPF light came on for a couple of seconds with the keep vehicle moving message)

Fast forwarded 3 weeks whilst the van was recovered back to the UK and it’s now not in limp mode but the engine light still on, read the codes and now showing P2563 (Turbo boost position sensor). Cleared codes and was fine. Checked tanks are full and no visible damage to exhaust system underneath van either

200 miles later, limp mode and the same error code.

Does another have any ideas what the fault is and what the cure will be? Is this a DPF/emission exhaust system issue or further upstream?

Thanks for your help!

The Eolys system maybe the issue. It’s totally separate to adblue but can generate adblue fault.
It’s also known as PAT and injection to the fuel tank. Meant to improve DPF regeneration.
Designed to last for 100000 miles. You are approaching that.

I thought it could be Eolys but the tank isn't empty - could it be the vaporiser? Is the P2563 code a red herring - my initial thoughts are if something is wrong upstream, regen won't work properly. I'll have a look over the vids too!

Eolys filled and appears to be working - I'm still having the same symptoms and issues

An error code in a Fiat being a red herring no cant believe that, thou hang on though Twin EGR P0401 having nothing to do with HPEGR just a cracked DPF and blocked LPEGcooler, yes I can believe it.
Sorry i know next to nothing about adblu models.

A quick search on p2563 gives these 2 a turbo /sensor problem

I also found an interesting french car site with simular post. Where the question was is it a ford engine and a mention of red herring code.
The one suggestion that i aggree with is the need to see live data so we can see the turbo performance and any ad blue data that is available to the new fiat adblue module. What software you need i dont know (can guess it wont be Multiecuscan) you need to know the precise engine including maufacture (ie is it a ford) . As to what software advice from Peugeot Citroen owners required. Diagbox for Delphi ecu.

Isn’t any wonder people get fed up and delete the adblue system. Dealers are useless. They couldn’t even tell me what the countdown to no restart commences from.

It’s at a point where you get sick of taking it into a place or ringing up only to be advised. Delete it.

I now have 2 weeks to get mine fixed or cancel yet another motorhome holiday as a result. 😡😡

As I read recently Italy are so sick they require manufacturers to fix at their cost. Not surprised.

In the same boat of needing it fixed before Christmas or it'll be 3 holidays in a row affected by breakdowns/unreliability!
I’ve experienced the ‘turbo position sensor’ and limp mode problem. Turned out to be a mouse had chewed through a pipe in the engine bay.
Do you happen to know by any chance which pipe is is/was?

I watched an O'Reilly last night. LR Discovery been in 4 dealers paid at all ,none fixed it.All it was was the no:4 injector U/S stopping regen. As he said if they don't understand that a glow plug failure means no regen there isn't a lot of hope.
4 new plugs ,some dpf cleaner ,reset & all good.

See photo, I’m fairly sure the damaged pipe was one of the pipes ringed in yellow

The Citroen 2.0 engine looks different, there doesn't seem to be any vacuum hoses going to turbo. I've booked it in for a smoke and leak test though to hopefully get to the bottom of this

When you get this done ask for the origin of the engine ford, psa, whatever so then someone could advise which software or test methodology you can use.
