Which could be a couple of years out of date. Always had Garmin (except I tried a cheap Chinese one which was OK but dated soon) and best around. All sea and air navigation done by Garmin

Yip. On my 4th Garmin with the last two still being updated with lifetime maps. The one before them was never on "lifetime maps" but still can be updated with latest but not used it for a few years now. The first one?????
Find BaseCamp on pc a great benefit as well.

I am on my second Chinese xgody 704, only the second as sold the last van and buyer insisted I leave it in, so bought number two. Never had cause for complaint. Latest maps and truck files available on this site!!!
For 40 quid, you know it make sense!!

I was looking at my first Garmin the other day. It was around 2" screen and needed to be connected so voice operated. It was the Garmin Quest. If I remember when I get back home, I'll put a picture of it on here.

Yeh, that was about the max screen size an Austin 7 could accommodate!:p:giggle:

Maybe those north of the border may hold onto things for generations but civilisation change with the times. However, I am slacking. My car is a 66 reg and the 67 reg comes out later this week.

Right guys be quick on this please because I am thinking of getting a sat nav before weekend, was just about to buy one of these xgody things but thought I would just check back and now see we have one who thinks they are good and one who doesn't.
Usually rely on phones but thought at this price worth a punt, maybe not.

Comes down to personal decisions.
Garmin 660/760/770 Camper LMT - D
Garmin quality but a bit pricey. £200.00 upwards.

I was going to buy one of these too,but another recent thread on here has put me off for the time being. I can't remember the exact problem to be honest.
So I have delayed the purchase and will revert to a MAP for the time being.
Looks like the Phillips Motorhome/caravan road atlas is the one to have.

Possibly issues around map validity, update availability and pirated software?

I bought one of those Chinese truck sat nags and it kept freezing up often when you needed it the most, so I binned it and bought a Garmin 660 camper.

John.

It was extremely slow and occasionally freezing.
Phone is OK buy screen half the size and need to keep plugged in and phone calls interrupt the maps. Plus all extras on sat nav as Lidl, MHF sites and ACSI and other preloaded thingumybobs

All I can say is mine, neither of them over 4 years has frozen or had any issues. I didn't write software so I don't have an issue with Chinese copyright issues and piracy! For forty quid worth a go. Additionally I know at least two others who bought them on my recommendation and both are very happy. I am not a believer in the more you pay, the better it is. I have had a garmin and a Sony satnav, they were both crap in my view.

I have three sat navs in the mh. Tomtom, Snooper and chinese cheapy.
The one I prefer is the chinese cheapy, gives routes I like and maps are as up to date as the others. I found particularly the tom tom maps seem not to be very up to date even if in theory the latest. Never had a Garmin so can't comment but in the past seemed to have problems with poi files.
