3 years 30,000 miles UK and Europe.. Campsites and off Grid.
Off to Le Man's for the 24 race on Thursday. Looking for somewhere cheap or free to stop on the Thursday night. Arrive in Calais 18.30 so maybe 2 hours from Calais in the Rouen direction (not using toll roads). Don't need any services.

Any suggestions?

Buchy has a free Aire but maybe not far enough.
Le Sap, nothing special

Buchy might be ok - it seems to take 2 and a half hours from Calais not using tolls. Le Sap too far. I had forgotten how far Le Man's was!

A bit further than halfway but it will get Rouen out the way on your first day - Pont de L’arche a nice spot by the river.
VXman. Also, the Super U in that area has a fiiling station, and overnighting is allowed at the bottom of the car park, near the railway line. There is also a restaurant on the supermarket site which is open in the evenings.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

That looks a nice place. Might push it that far in the evening and then have a quick look around in the morning.

Definitely worth it. Nice little town as well. Quite an easy jaunt from Calais.

We have used this aire a few times , but i think it is now in the emission restricted area, we are pre 2015 so don’t think we can use it now 🤔🙁

It wasn’t when we used it the end of Feb?! Although the Rouen main route is of course.

If only we had a map where people could log their aires on and then click the link to see photos and a bit of spiel about it  (y)

Ok I’ve found the full map now (I’m slow, sorry but I am persevering). If I wanted to add an aire what would I do?

Bit of feedback on the map. I checked one I’d been to which was a sloping gravel car park. Ok but I’d not go back. In the review there are loads of photos of the surrounding area but none of the aire itself.

I may be sad but I make a point if taking a photo of every Aire I go to so that I can remember them better if I want to go back.

If I knew 5 years ago I was going to do this then I would have done as well !
Now that I know I reckon I might start.
By all means add a photo into the comments on that one

I will revisit the map I saw, I thought there was a single route through Rouen you could use but no others

Going to stick to the U.K. this year anyway 👍

Buchy closed last week as there was a fairground being set up.
I used Saint Claire which is not far off A28 or on the other side Mesnieres en Bray. Of the two I prefer Saint Claire.
Yes I told you😉
Our backup is Cleres

Enjoy Le Mans but don’t run out of loo paper as the gyppos will charge you an arm and leg for some. Grand Marnier crepes could only manage 6 at one sitting 🤣
I'm sure the campsite we were on last year provided toilet paper. I was impressed by the cleanliness of them and the showers. Darn site better than Silverstone can manage!

We're on Basejour too. Was on Eppinettes (with electric) last year but it was sold out quickly this time. I've done Basejour before years ago but just in a tent.

When you arriving?
