I have had a few quotes over the last few years for ferries both to Ireland and France but found I could get nowhere near the prices the CAMC could get me, so I booked through them. Has anyone found a cheaper way to book, I would have to re join the CAMC to get those cheap prices again and just want to check that's the cheapest way.

I agree they do tend to be cheaper. The downside is any amendments need to be made via them which is not always convenient as the are only open 9-5 Monday to Friday and charge an admin fee of £20 for each booking.

When booking with them and you are buying a cabin, try all the cabin types when making the booking, last booking I made they messed up and I got a club class cabin for less than the price of a standard one!

20% discount (not on cabins) on the Newhaven - Dieppe crossing for everyone if the person named on the ticket is over 60. Book by phone to get it.
Can confirm. Booked for 2nd Sept by phone £250 return with Seaview Cabin both ways! Tried BF for same dates but came out at double the price without cabin even with discount!

I'm not quite there yet, can't say I'm looking forward to it tbh but thanks for the tip 😬

I'm not sure which crossings you are particularly wanting but I would be surprised if you find anything cheaper than Irish ferries for the Dover Calais crossing.

It is a pity that neither of the main clubs have achieved a discount for Greek ferries like many of the European countries' clubs have. For example ANEK/Superfast give 25% discount, which on a return Adriatic crossing costing £8-900 would make joining the club worth it just for that.

I'm looking at UK to Ireland, 20th April for 7 days, 2 people 6m van, its coming in at £500 Pembrokeshire to Rosslare, Irish ferries.

We did Ireland in July/August 2022. We didn't book a return as we like to keep options open.

In the end we did outbound Fishguard to Rosslaire with Stena at £265 and returned Irish ferries Dublin to Holyhead at 291 euros (£250)

So just over £500 but in peak summer time and 18 months ago. Bigger van than yours at 7.5 metres Make of that what you will!!

I'm joining the CAMC tomorrow and will post the prices they give me once they have quoted, I'm not that fussed where we go from tbh. Cheapest I got in Easter 2022, with the CAMC, was £250 return Liverpool to Dublin, it was an 8hr crossing though.........if my memory serves me correctly.

I was just going to check the ferry prices for you before you re-join tomorrow, but unfortunately it appears the CAMC web site is down at the moment - I'll try again later!

Been down since yesterday. Either inept IT, or they've been hacked. I can believe either.
Those of us around the CAMC for sometime know the answer to that. Their IT has been a huge disaster for a number of years now. It all started on the change of the booking system, has never been right since.

Would hardly be worth it, not many people from UK go that way.

Well quite a few people on this forum alone have been or are asking about booking and camping on deck. ViaMare, the agents in London who specialise on Greece, said they were having difficulty finding space for their UK clients just one day after bookings opened.

Just to finish this I have joined the camping and caravan club, they no longer sort the ferry's through email, they offer a discount code on their website that gives you discount code but only on flexi bookings, heres my booking, works about the same as economy booking, not sure if its worth it tbh and its definitely not as good as the discount I had with the old system.

One thing I did notice on the booking form for stenna is a category for a large car, upto 6m long and 4m high, which my PVC would easily qualify for (5.99m and less than 2.6m high) the rate was very low, about £360 for the same journey, I can't work out why and if I should book mine as a car.......
