Burstner T660
Hi fellow motorhomers

Been really happy with our 15 year old Burstner for the past 9 years, but need a change of layout and looking at Chaussons as they have loads of different options and I love the Ford cabs. Does anyone have any experience of owning a Chausson longer term (over 5 years) as we've read some disturbing posts about poor quality and habitation leaks.

My previous home was a 2016 chausson, we full timed in it. It rattled, it creaked, the plastics cracked, the project 2000 drop down bed was useless, the build quality was awful, nothing but problems with it, I bought it used with only 200 miles on the clock, I will never own another one.

That's a shame as the specs look good. Maybe nothing to beat old German quality then. Will maybe concentrate looking at Burstners, Hymer, Carthago, Dethlleffs/Sunlight etc though I expect build quality has dipped.

There are other vans of quality like Pilote and Adria that are not German to name only two. Underneath, I am not sure that the engines and chassis differ hugely from one marque to another.

Our current van is a 2018 Chausson Flash with the drop down bed. We bought it new and had 2 warranty issues, both sorted quickly. One was a weep on the window by the sink, but we were parked side on to a gale in Cornwall. The other was the window above the cab, there was a faulty batch from the supplier which warped in the sun. Since these were fixed we've had no issues. Love the layout, large shower, sub 7m length and a king size bed. Can't wait to get on the ferry in May.

I think you will be disappointed you would be going from a mid range van to a budget one. Fixtures and fitting are no where near as sturdy.
