Fiat Ducato Chausson
Hi all, does anyone have any hacks or insights on the boiler for a 2002 Fiat Ducato Chausson?
We can’t seem to get into a garage here in France and no matter what we do the water won’t warm up anywhere (specifically for the shower)
The propane tank is on, the cover for the boiler is off, the boiler can be set to either 50 or 70 degrees, neither work. The little red handles that connect to the tank doesn’t make a difference in either direction.. (sorry I don’t know what those are called) We cleaned out the fresh water tank… is there anything else we can do on our own?

can you hear the boiler click when you turn it on i think the boiler is a trauma ultrastore

A bit more info may help.

Is the m/h new to you? Have you had the h/water working previously?
On gas it needs a fully charged habitation battery in order to operate.
Does it work on EHU (i.e. 230v mains electricity) if you have access to an electrical supply?

It isn't just the gas tank that needs to be on but also the valve on the manifold, specifically for the boiler, also. If the gas has been off a while it can take multiple attempts to light.
Failing that it is also worth finding an airline & blowing out the boiler assembly through the outside vent in case dust or soot particles are shorting the igniter.

Have you taken the vent cover off on the outside of the MH. It will not work on gas unless this is off.

Does the boiler work on hook up, ie electric 240v ?

Yes, the cover is off. It’s supposed to work on propane. The stove and oven work so I know the gas is working.

Okay, I will try cleaning out the vent. We tried the valve on the manifold both directions, neither worked.

On our boiler, when it fails to light for any reason a little red led comes on just below the 50* / 70* switch. Is this led lit on yours ?

The valve handle when in the same orientation as the inlet and outlet is normally open to pass gas. When it's shut it is normally at 90* to the pipework.

If you're not sure of the isolation valve direction and the cooker works set it the same as the cooker one. When you switch on the boiler make sure it's the gas switch not the electric one. You should then hear the ignitor clicking but as others have said it could take a few attempts if the pipe is full of air if the heater hasn't been used for a while. If you can't hear clicking check the main panel is on.

A failing gas regulator (especially a Truma one) often first shows up by failing to deliver enough gas to operate the heating/hot water, but will happily run the fridge and hob, so there may not actually be a problem with the boiler at all ?
We're gonna need a bit more info to help you out though, the exact model of boiler and the answers to Spriddler questions could point us in the right direction ?

Bon chance !
