Hiya, I was thinking about towing an A Frame car. I have a 2017 Chausson 62BEB on a 2.3 Fiat Comformatic. The van has floor supports (pictured). When gathering quotes for the job some suppliers quote for chassis extensions some don't so there is quite a difference in price. Have any 628EB owners got a view on whether Chassis extensions are required or not.
Many thanks -Nev

For a definitive answer, I would contact https://tow-trust.co.uk/
They manufacture a number of type approved Towbars for motorhomes, including for Fiat chassis and Alko chassis, with & without extensions.
Some have an additional bracing kit to fit between the chassis and the extension.

On a 2017, it’s essential it is a type approved towbar, specifically for your vehicle.

In that case get the best one you can get. As above take advice from the manufacturer. Not all type approved bars are equal.

Well, I got a half dozen quotes and 50% said chassis supports were required whilst the others said floor bracing adequate to bolt the side arms assembly onto. The ones that said I didn't require chassis extensions had photos of the two VIN plates to double check. The Trigano vin plate tells me that there is 2000kg towing capacity with 100kg nose weight. Am I right in assuming the VIN plate can be trusted . Note ,I supplied extensive photos to all companies. Still awaiting tow trust technical advice that was suggested. At the end of the day is it down to the opinion of the installer whether chassis extensions are required? I have found it all very confusing to be honest!

That’s arguable! The whole point of testing and type approval is that ALL Towbars are to the same standard.
That said, as a previous fitter/supplier for 30+ years, It’s a fact that some may be easier to fit than others….
