Our new van came with 85ah gel battery that I've replaced with lithium.

My son has a Bailey caravan with what looks like a BCA charger, I can't find a profile switch to change to gel. So if we fitted it would it be OK to charge on the standard setting?

Most gels need a long absorption setting to fully charge, and IIRC a slightly higher voltage than LA.

Don't know the BCA charger so might be wrong, but if it has a fixed output, ie its not a 3 stage charger, then it would need to be monitored and turned off if the batteries ever reach full or they will be knackered.

Not a great combo I think., but a separate charger wouldn't cost too much, something with a gel and lithium profile (for the future) and you could disconnect the BCA unit from the bats just using it as the power supply for the van.
