Rapido V68
I have an issue with weight (she's a bloater) and one of the candidates is the batteries. Currently I have two 100ah Banner AGM's at 22kg each! I have a Rapido V68 with what looks like Nordelectrica ECU and charger which I think I will have to change the dip switches?

  • Can anyone recommend a 100ah Lithium
  • Anyone had experience of Fogstar, I think they are good but long lead-time we go to Italy in April
  • Am I safer with two 50ah or 1 100ah
  • What changes do I need to make to the van? I also have Victron MPPT and shunt
  • Has anyone mad this change and got history?

The change would mean a drop of 38kg which is a lot

Regards,

Mike

Caution over Fogstar delivery. I was quoted lby end of Jan”, this slipped by 2 weeks then when I chased them they said they’d not received all the ordered batteries so now end Feb, start March. Eurotunnel booked for 17 March, getting anxious I won’t get it in time.
I went for 280ah as I spend a lot of time off grid. Personally I’d go for one 100ah then you can double with another if you need it. Get 2 x 50 and you’d have to replace both if you need more power. That said if you have 2 batteries and one fails then you still have the other. Happy days.

Good points we go to Italy in May and they are saying April delivery. Did you have to make changes to wiring / chargers?

I’ll get panned by others for this but as my van is just a couple of years old and has a b2b I’m trusting in Fogstar’s ”drop in” as I’ve told them what the system comprises and they tell me it’ll work.

I think you'll be surprised just how small and light a 100Ah lithium is. A 50Ah is even smaller, obviously. To put it in perspective, a 230Ah is 25kg

We replaced two Banner 92Ah AGM batteries (circa 50+kg) with a single 120Ah Sterling Lithium battery (circa 14kg). We already had solar and Victron MPPT controller with lithium profile onboard, added a shunt and Sterling B2B.

I have a Relion which I am very pleased with. However bigtwin was recommending Life Batteries and they did look good value with good support.

I went with a 150Ah KS Energy in my Dreamer D55 as it was dimensionally similar to the old Banner lead acid. You don’t say what year your van is - more recent ones come with a B2B charger already fitted. If this is the case, you should be able to just drop the lithium battery in and change dip switches on your ac charger and B2B.

I bought a 300ah Fogstar in December, due deliver was January and it arrived first week of Feb.
That said, it’s looks like a great battery, app for managing it looks good, it’s a good size to fit on battery box and weight 26kg compare to the 2x110ah that it replaced at 25kg each

Fogstar received Feb, ordered December.
Seems a quality product and long warranty.
App screen great information.
300ah about same as Numax 110ah normal battery.
Got the same battery, same timeframe December order, feb delivery
