I`m a newbie
Hi
I have a old 94 wayfarer which I like and will be keeping for a long time, but I can’t stand the colour or pattern of the seats, it was all I could afford at the time, should I spend some money and have it redone and more modern and have nice spongy seating and fancy curtains and the like to suit us, making it feel like a cosy home or should I keep it as it is in the original condition also can I change the drivers and passenger seat for something cumfy, apart from that she’s great.

It’s your vehicle, do what ever suits your taste. :)

You can get overhead locker doors, drawers and cupboard doors wrapped. That should instantly give it a lift if done in a neutral colour... perhaps cream or ivory. Same with seats... replace or recover. As you intend to keep the vehicle it will be money well spent.

You could try what I did.

I gave my grandson a can of purple fizzy pop.

He ran around with it in his bag for a good half an hour.

He jumped into the back of the camper, sat down, and opened it quickly.

Jackson Pollock came to mind. Although the effect is both interesting and different.

He is only 4 and not too big, and could also manage camper garages and house chimneys. He can be hired by the half day, I will cover transport.

Keeping something original is only for antiques or classics.

Make it your own by customising and improving. But please don't make it beige!!

@Sabino ... you got that a bit wrong ... you don't give them the can of fizzy pop to drink until just before they're due to go home ... that way you don't have to deal with the effect of all the sugar in their system! :D2

Think I will be banning fizzy drinks on our August trip, 4 grandchildren 4-14 a 4 berth van and a blow up awning.
Apologies for hi jacking the post.
To answer the OP if the van suits you, runs well and you otherwise love it, give it a facelift, beware of too soft cushions if they are used for a make up bed. I managed to reupholster and renew foam in my romahome seats a long time ago.

Depending on your budget and also whether in reality it makes sense to 'permanently' reupholster or not, do as you wish, after all it's your motorhome. :)

Having dogs I always make removable covers to go over the seats which can easily be removed for washing and protects the original material (so when we come to sell it the seating is like new) but you could still do this for yours too. Obviously it works out a lot cheaper than having them reupholstered and you can change them in the future if you so wish, or replace a marked one (get extra material).

Below are the original seat covers in our FamilyScout and the covers I made, and now that we're selling it I've removed them to reveal the perfect originals underneath.

Just to clarify before you get the comments about taking kids in a MH with no rear travel seats that you don't have a Romahome now!

First thing I did in my 1991 van was have all the seats updated. The driver and passenger seats were just fitted with covers so I had them replaced but all the rest were totally re-upholstered. Gave it a new lease of life. I kept the curtains as original but if I'd had a bit of extra cash I would have had them done as well.

The best money we have so far spent on our second hand motorhome was having it reupholstered. At £1800 it wasn't cheap, but well worth it. The old fabric reminded me of my gran's stair carpet !

New foam all through, including the cab seats, cushions, curtains, they even covered the underneath of the overcab bed, and the whole thing now looks amazing. We gave them the motorhome at 7-30 and we got it back at 3-30 the same day so it was pretty much effortless.

Who did the work?

Regal Upholstery at Ilkeston. We stayed overnight on their site the night before - with hook-up - so they could make a start first thing. Totally painless, and excellent work.

I don’t think that member is still around, but they said in an earlier post that they use Regal furnishings at Ilkeston, Yorkshire. Very well respected company.

You local re upholsterers?
It's what they do every day.
Take a cushion or two down and have a look at their stock of materials, they will have masses.
A regular caravan type seat cushion could cost £25 around here
