I have a Reich Vector S tap with a 25mm cartridge that seems to develop a leak anytime the temperature sneezes. Being located in Ireland I am struggling to get the cartridges and they are expensive to boot. I have a pressurised system with 12mm John Guest pipes. Has anyone moved over to a standard off the shelf household mixer tap and if so what fitting are needed to interface with the 12mm piping.

Thanks in advance

Does Amazon Ireland not come up with a number of 25mm ceramic cartridges? UK site does but whether they're the right ones????

I moved over to domestic taps after years off messing around with expensive caravan taps. One of the best things I have done. The system is a pressurised now but I have a isolation switch which I can flick when not in the van. So if a leak occurs it won't empty 100 litres all over the van.

While the Amazon ones looks similar there appear to be some subtle differences and I am not sure if they would work or not. If someone who has otrdered a generic one can say it would be good. Long term I want to move away from something so flimsy though.

I bought this from screwfix for my Reich tap
I order two of the same, and am very pleased with the performance of the one I installed.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

and that's why I want to move away from Reich. 25mm is far less popular.

Have you tried removing the whole body and applying a food grade sealant
e.g. https://haynesmfg.com/products/haynes-cip-film-1-oz-tube
to the large o ring.
If kitchen tap access to the grub screw is easy, bathroom a nightmare as it's so close to the rear wall.
Kon-Tiki 599, our bathroom tap started to leak on 1st night of a 12 month US road trip, fortunately our 2nd night
host had a very well equipped workshop so I was able to shorted a Torx bit to fit behind.

Final fix is to replace both bathroom and kitchen tap but still looking at single lever mixer or 2 taps (single feed hole)
and ditching cartridge taps all to gether.

I've written to several motorhome/caravan parts companies as asked if they can supply the ceramic cartridge for
Reich Vector S and all have been no so far. They can sell me a complete tap!!!!
This is the only Reich 25mm I've found.

I am slowly, (every time I have to renew something plumbing,) changing from 12mm to 15 mm so that I can buy replacement parts anywhere instead of having to go to M/H outlets to buy 12mm. 👍

I've used so much silicon with it I could add a pair of bolt ons to myself...alas no joy

But just as easy to find online, saving yourself a whole lot of hassle and expense.

Broken Link Removed

Good luck,

Jock. :)
Unfortunately Brexit has made a lot of the smaller companies unwilling to ship to Ireland. The first link in your search was an Irish site but at over €30 and me not being confident that any 25mm cartridge will fit I won't take the chance. Over in Wales next week for a few days so have ordered one to a friend. I think the quality of the Reich stuff is cods wallop for the money being asked. Long term I'll get the couplers suggested by scotjimland and put in a normal kitchen mixer tap costing 1/4 of the price. I'll also put in valves so if I do spring a leak while on hols I can isolate the tap. It would be interesting to hear if anyone has had success/failure with generic 25mm cartridges.

Not saying I don't want to spend the money but I'm on my 3rd cartridge in 5 years of ownership. Putting one last one in while I get the bits and bobs together to change to a household tap.

I have successfully Insider, as posted above.

They come in 2 x sizes, but both are the same quality.
Our MH is 18 x years old, and I replaced not one, but two of the original Reich cartridges for the generic ones
That was in a space of 4 x years , and working fine (touch wood). 👍

Get your Welsh mate to order 2 or 4 x from either Screwfix or Toolstation for you.

Try Ebay.ie before you leave, as I have just checked, and 25mm Flomasta ceramic cartridges are on there as well.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Apologies - I understood your reference to be the 35mm ones which are a lot cheaper and worth a punt.

Screwfix Ireland has a 35mm cartridge for €6.35 and a 25mm one for over €50!!!!

Yes, I see what you mean price wise re the 25mm ones. :(
Surely, a punt on the ebay ones is worth it, even if you do have to pay import duty, but I wouldn't have thought the value would be sufficient for that.

Like I say, get your Welsh pal to order from Ebay, and you collect. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)
