Can anyone suggest nice villages/towns to stay at on the way to (and in) the Champagne region, travelling from Calais?

We spent most of our time in Burgundy but did stay on a very lovely (small) aire at Buxeuil in the southern Bar region of Champagne

A lovely mountain, with the “Horns” being described as terrifying by Poucher. I think he was a bit of a wuss!

Hmm I think I’d agree with him. We enjoy the low level Coire Mhic Nobuil stroll between Beinn Alligin and Liathach.
