Thinking of upgrading my Cello tv to a smart version.

I can get unlimited data for £16 pm

Would it be worth it?

Any downside?

Thanks

We updated our non-Smart Ferguson 24" (Cello rebrand) to a 36" Cello Smart.

We don't stream a lot but when we have it connects easily to our ZTE MU-5001 (Scancom 3 data only sim) and Huawei e5577cs (EE 12 month data only sim) units.

Never tried it with a phone/text/data sim though.

Think John DBK recently got a smaller Cello Smart TV and maybe streams.

One downside with Smart TV - the manufacturer seems to abandon updates after a few years where as using a fire stick or mini PC plugged into a non smart TV will be upgraded for a lot longer ....
Agreed, some manufacturers do, Sony being a culprit.

We've never had issues with LG even after 10-12 years and the Smart Cello TV's run LG WebOS software.

I bought a really super LG tv. Chose one which had a 19v power supply to run it. Just fish around behind the TVs in Currys to find those with this.

Buy a buck boost power supply rated ar 19v and double the current the TV needs to take account of starting up.

There you have a great quality TV with good sound at a very competitive price!

We can stream using our Cello when it is linked to the MH WiFi from the router. This is fine for BBC but not live ITV. We can get iPlayer and watch live BBC programs. But on ITVx we can only watch older programs not live programs. This I understand is common with a lot of smart TVs. It isn't a problem as we don't watch ITV very often and if we did want to watch a live program we can use a tablet.
