So I have a cavagna regulator and it’s date stamped 0222 so I guess it’s out of date!
So I’m looking for a replacement, there seems to be a 8mm and 10mm gas pipe fitting! Is that the gas pipe od?
Tia

Correct that is the pipe od.

Not sure why a regulator would have a use by date on it though. Rubber pipes yes but I would be surprised at the regulator

Be surprised 😁

So how old is that regulator, and is there anywhere that indicates that is in fact a use by date.

Brand new one on ebay has the same 02-22 on it 🤷‍♂️

A regulator must have its date of manufacture on and good practice advises change after 10 years.
It looks to me if it was manufactured around week 2 of 2022.

Manufacturers recommended replacement for most gas regulators is 10 years most rubber hoses 10 years too .
These are also the recommended replacement times in the relevant codes of practice and standards now 👍

That’s what is said in post #6
I believe. I was trying to get the op to say why they thought that was a use by / change by date.

Regulators can be sold as new up to 3 years old according to industry recommendations, some of our rarer more specialist regulators will often be older .
Unfortunately some retailers don’t mention age so can at times mislead consumers with what they are being sold ⚠️
We probably have over a thousand regulators in stock 🤣
I see another type and just can’t help myself, always getting into trouble 😂
Plenty that we don’t advertise too that are in my just in case we need one department !

Well thanks everybody, that saves me the price of a regulator 👍😁
Basildog, I will contact you when you’re back at work and order some Gaslow connection and fill hoses👍😁

I noticed that......when I searched there was a respected seller on ebay with a new regulator that had 02-12 on it

I wouldn’t take too much notice of the dates on the regulators in the pictures as we ourselves often use old or stock pictures for ease of listing ,
But we do always point out if we are selling old stock and the price normally reflects this so should be fairly obvious.
We have some older 50 mbar regulators in stock now that are over 10 years old but almost impossible to source , we don’t advertise them but occasionally they help someone out .
To be honest I keep thinking about binning them now but just can’t do it 😂

Regulators fail, as I found out a few years ago. This was in a tent, & we were very lucky that I was able to turn off the valve at the cylinder quickly enough to avoid the canvas catching fire. Flames from the high pressure gas escaping from the low pressure stove were 2 feet high, with smaller flames around the stove control knobs.
I was told the regulators had a rubber diaphragm inside, which perishes & fails.

Most things have a life and clearly you prompt actions saved the day.
But in this case the op assumptions were not correct the date on the regulator was it’s manufactured date as 2022 so very unlikely to be perishing diaphragm at less than a year old.

That’s why all Leisure vehicles should now be fitted with at least an over pressure protection device, most are now normally 2 stage regulators with an in built over pressure device that allows a maximum pressure of 150 mbar .
The bottle top single stage red or blue regulators can fail to full bottle pressure resulting in what you described ⚠️

Well can we make our collective minds up!
Is it a date or not?
If one says it is and one says it’s not that’s not a definitive answer 😐

that is not a date, they are not dated.
All regulators are dated .
Every single regulator we sell including the cheap red bottle top type have a date of manufacture on them .

Our first van had bottle top regulators with an over pressure release valve.

As the numbers are directly after the CE symbols I would say they are an approval certification number.....CE 02-22

Would agree but it’s It’s CE 085-22 the 02-22 is on the body stamped and the manufacture date.

that is not a date, they are not dated.
Just contacted cavanagh and the stamped numbers ARE THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE!!!!
Would you please correct your post so as not to propagate false information, thank you 😁

Basildog already told you that
