Through the somport tunnel today, straight through no probs, the first real town you come to is Urdos.
4 douanes stopped and searched the van for around 45 mins. Never asked for passport or mentioned anything to do with covid or br****
All very polite but I was sure they must be looking for something. Been this way many times and never seen anyone official
Spooky eh?

Technically I hope 🤞 you were only stopped by them not caught 😁🤔

unless of course they found something you forget to tell us about :whistle2:

I had that on my way home 2019 .

The buggers squirted my toothpaste, suncream etc in the sink ...they swabbed lots of switches etc in the van and damaged my entry step in the process.

Spooky, indeed. The only time I've been stopped at a border was in 2017 at San Sebastian when Ros wasn't in the passenger seat - just me and the dog. Who escaped when they opened the door and ran around the checkpoint booths causing havoc. Maybe a man/woman couple is automatically assessed as innocent tourists but a man and his dog = sinister.

I got 'stopped' walking the dog, early one morning, in an Aire de repos north of Bordeaux where we had spent the night on the way home in December 2019.
Never looked in the van , never asked for any id, just asked if I spoke french ,I said no spanish or english .Continued in english. 4 gendarmes & 2 customs . One translated my replies to the customs & complimented me on my English!
