Cats in motorhomes

My mum and dad caravaned for 50yrs or more. They always took their current cat with them. Dad cut a hole in the bottom so it could venture out at night, cos cats are nocturnal. They never lost one or had a strange animal come in.

Thanks @Wilge for explaining why we had not responded to @i can’t remember. Yes we have travelled with Purrdey for over 4 years. She was 3 when we adopted her from our son. At first we tried several harnesses but, as cats can, one shrug and she was out of the harness. We even tried a small dog restraint to no avail. Purrdey always came back to the van. Now we level the van, open her travelling cage and let her out.
Whilst she is exploring, the van is set out exactly as she expects it. Litter tray behind passenger seat, dumpling bed on drivers seat, cool cover on passengers seat. Food dish and biscuits at end by kitchen, freshwater in dish outside near back wheel so when she returns everything is where it should be. She likes sitting on the step and watching what is going on. Purrdey is quite nervous so if anything spooks her she comes back to the van. Dogs don’t worry her and if they are well trained dogs and cat are no problem. We ask to park near a hedge as she loves seeking animal trails to follow or at the end of the row which cuts down possible problems with dogs. Purrdey knows the Motorhome regime better than we do. As soon as we are set up she has new territory to explore. We are very lucky that she always comes home to the best food and biscuits available. She is known as “the Funster Cat” many of you have met her. @lLudo adore her. Cherry
