Just Looking
My friends (and neighbours) have just purchased a Cathargo E-Line but there is a problem with the Sat/TV system. If the front TV is on then both the front and rear TV work as they should but if the front TV is turned off the rear (bedroom) TV does not receive any Sat signals. Is this a design fault or just a problem with "our" motorhome, please?

Sounds as if the sat feed is dependent on the ‘front’ tv being powered……so ‘by design’ I would imagine - but I cannot think of a reason why it should be designed like that!

Perhaps some sort of ‘pass-through’ feed has been omitted…?

Also, does the rear tv have a sat tuner, or is it relying on the front tv’s tuner…..?

Need a bit more info really but for a start..
If OEM fit it will be a Teleco system and that can be controlled by disecq. This means if you turn the Tv on the dish can go up automatically and also turning the Tv off can close the dish. Alphatronics TV (again OEM for Carthago) have this option enabled as standard and can cause confusion during operation. The disecq commands are easy enough turn off if you can read a screen, maybe need some specific advice if you are unsure. This is assuming it has a twin output LNB (likely).

It is a factory fitted Teleco system. It seems daft that "one" would have to get out to bed to turn the front TV off before going to sleep

If you turn off the disecq control on main Tv both Tv's will operate independently. However "one" would need to get out of bed to park the dish if so required.
The disecq control is quite useful and comes from multiple LNB / motorised dish installations. The idea is that with the TV remote control you can change channels and if you select for example a channel on Astra 19E when you have been watching one on 28E it will automatically move the dish for you. This saves you from getting up and selecting a different sat position on the Teleco, Maxview control etc.

We have an E Line with front and rear TV's and Teleco system all factory fitted. Front TV works independently of rear TV on satellite. Rear TV only works on satellite whereas front TV also works from the inbuilt terrestrial aerial. If the media button is turned off on the control panel neither TV works. We do find that if the front TV is only turned off on the remote that some sort of timer is inbuilt and it will turn itself on again!! so we always turn the TV off on the TV control box (not the main control panel). This box is located in the cupboard above the TV monitor. FYI it is advisable to turn the media switch off when nothing is in use as there is a substantial drain of power via the radio. Alternatively have the radio rewired to the leisure batteries and fit a new on/off switch in the top glove box (this is what our dealer did when I questioned the drain on engine battery). They also fitted a battery master. Bit of a waffle but it may help.
