Hi I’m over in France atm, can anyone recommend me a place where I can buy some toilet cassette fluid??

We haven’t used fluid for over 25 years. We use Tesco Bio washing powder. Just go into Lidl and buy Forvil washing liquid. Make sure it is the Bio one. A capful is all you need. Much better than the liquid and can be safely emptied into a septic tank. We lived with one for 20 years and never had a problem.

It's pretty much snake oil so don't bother with it. It's harder to treat the fluids than it is to treat the natural stuff..

Just empty your cassette in the local river as this feral Frenchman was doing in the river Leie

Was it Spain or France that didn't use the phrase ,'Bio' on their packaging.

Regardless, if you can't find 'Bio', look for the word ,'Enzyme'
That's 'Bio'

Useful tip there from the community.

For those that use biological Laundry products in their loo cassettes, do you find that you’re stuck with toilet odour that would otherwise be masked by the heavy aroma from the products designed for loo cassettes or is there no noticeable difference?

How did you know he was French ?
Did he shout Merde ?

Problem may be that if you have been using chemicals swapping to bio based systems may not work properly. All traces of chemicals will need to be eradicated from the cassette.
True, this is the essence of a SOG system. I’ve been using bio liquid for years now. Never had a problem.

I have only ever used the bio laundry sachets, mum of Aldi, Lidl, and Tesco versions. Only difference seems to be the level of "fresh laundry" that occasionally pervades the van if there has been some form of backflow venting from the Thetford noisy vent fan underneath somewhere.

Its a bit scarce in the winter, unless you go to a camper/caravan store, if you are lucky you may find it in a big supermarket/diy store if they haven't used the shelves for more seasonal products.
Last winter I ended up ordering it from amazon, but I live here so that wasn't a problem

To start with that may be the case but after a few doses/emptying it should sort itself out.
The Bio washing liquid is better as well as some places, not on the mainline sewers, don’t want the loo chemicals in there!

Lidls or Aldi bio green dishwasher liquid.

Does the job nicely at a fraction of the price

I always/only use Lidl's Formil Bio liquid washing fluid. It works well, comes in a decent and easily sized bottle, easily replaced as there's a Lile everywhere AND if you need to washany clothes in an emergency it does double duty. Oh and it smell good when you slide the cassette flap open.

I used the 'branded' septic tank safe chemicals in my cassette toilet. The smell was noticeable.

So, I moved on to the bio tablets after a good wash out (soaked in hot soapy water overnight etc). The smell was noticeable.

I now have a separating toilet. Smell is only sometimes noticeable if you lift the lid - but I'm still learning how much coconut coir to use and haven't experimented with other 'dry media' options. A thousand times better both in terms of use and disposal than cassette. I wouldn't go back.

In fact, is anyone looking for a PortaPotti? I have one I don't need, but I don't know what the second hand market for these is like!
