Just in case you guys havn't seen it, Toby Carvery offering 50% off Tues-Friday this week for members registered on the app/with a booking via it.

That makes an already good deal even better. (I imagine it's down to post Xmas Christmas lunch normal slowdowns).

I got sent email with this offer, Shame there’s not some near us 🙁

Toby is an absolute lottery - one day the food can be great the next it can be absolute rubbish.

Completely agree, but we do tend to still go every other month. And it's more often better than the local pub on a Sunday carvery -> given you can have as much veg as you want unlike the local pub where the portions seem rationed (except for the potatos I shouldn't eat)..
The only issue in Tues-Friday you often locally can't get lamb, but the pork and beef is always on.

It's one of the few places I can go with the (semi restricted) diet I'm now on so it's a firm favourite for us.

Used to be able to overnight at the one beside Tesco, just 200 meters off Jct 43 of the M6 ?
We met up there a few times for breakfast before going away with our vans on Lad's fishing trips, the carver/servers looked like they'd just been released from working in a prison canteen "Getting a ladle of gravy here Boss !"

Unfortunately we have stopped going to them for the very same reason. Great value, however, not worth the risk for us, accept we may have just been unlucky and know that many people love them, just look at the queue.

Pays your money takes your chance.
its good value for money but yes, for that it high production etc.

I don't go there very often but on my 1st visit I had a conversation with the chef.
He told me that they do about 450 covers each day and there are 2 times that he would recommend....
1. About midday, all the food is fresh after the breakfast menu.
2. About 3pm ish, it's often a quiet period (when parents are collecting the kids from school) and they refresh the food.
It's worked for me on the odd occasion that I go.

We get 20% off including all courses & drinks as M&B shareholders, works out better than 50% off main courses if you like a drink. :giggle:
We were having a meal in Browns in Edinburgh one NYE and spent a great night chatting to the man and woman at the next table. When it came to bill time, the man revealed he was an M&B shareholder and gave us his card. 20% off a Browns bill on NYE was very welcome.
I'm assuming that the shareholders' discount applies to all M&B brands, of which there are many.

Yes you get 12 vouchers for the year, last year for their 50th anniversary they gave us one 30% voucher, we used it for meal in London when we went to the theatre.

Some of the cruise lines offer similar deals with us owning Carnival shares for similar reasons -> gives usually $250 in on board spend on every single ship we step on. Funnily enough it keeps us loyal to the Carnival ships, being Carnival, Cunard, Princess, P&O UK and Holland America.

The summary being we've had much more than the shares cost over the years in on board credit. We've also made money on the shares.

I do that to random people in a restaurant if we've got spare shareholder vouchers (me & OH both get a booklet) at the end of Jan each year. I pick a big group & discreetly offer one to them.

Yes, it applies to all their brands, includes drinks and set menus.

We did a similar thing on our flight to Thailand. I had 4 unused First Class lounge vouchers for Qatar Airways. When we got off the plane in Doha there were 2 elderly couples who I invited to experience the Al Safwa Lounge, they were travelling economy and had a 4 hour transit, they were very appreciative. One of the gentleman offered to buy me a drink in the lounge, he was very suprised to learn there was no charge for anything. I arranged the jacuzzi for the ladies. Hope they enjoyed it, the vouchers were due to expire so it was great not to have them go to waste.

Used the Toby carvery in Morecambe a few times but only for breakfast. The quality can on occasions be questionable but one thing for sure you leave full and don’t need anything else to eat until evening! Never really understood why Yorkshire puddings are available at breakfast but certainly have eaten them!!

DDS (Defence Discount Card) available if you are serving / have served, provides the same $250 on board spend, that can be taken in cash, benefit.

Peninsular and Orient used to offer benefits such as free ferry crossings of the channel, if you had bought penny shares eons ago. They may still be valid.

The DDS and Blue Light (available if you are serving / have served in the emergency services and NHS) also give discounts at Toby and lots of places.

Often getting the relevant App will provide discounts at hostelries. Its a competitive market these days.

Unfortunately the local Toby Carvery was flame grilled last week.
