Hi funsters I have just got a new to me moho which I knew had issues most of which I'm ok with but I'm a bit out of my depth with the carver water heater, I was told when I got the bag of shit (oops meant moho) that the water system didn't work and the water heater had been bypassed first problem was a simple knackered whale pump which I have replaced the 1st problem with the hot water is a leaking seal on the tank which is probably a stretched tie rod but my problem is the burner ignites and runs for maybe a minute then goes off so will this be because there is no water in the tank or is it more liable to be the burner module?

The water in the tank will make no difference. Don’t run it for long without water though or you will melt the plug that protects the tank.

Is the flame sensor in the correct position?

Is the burner in good condition?

Might be a PCB issue?

Gary here can fix them, whatever the issue.

I can recommend this chap because when we had caravans I needed a carver repair and he was most helpful, and we purchased an exchange refurbed unit which worked brilliantly.

Sorry I don't quite understand this thread, have you now found the answer or not, if the tank is leaking the burner won'tight else it's going to burn out, I have had quite a few of these, and they are pretty simple to mend, there is a bloke in Cannock that can supply anything for them, I will look up his website and put a link on.

It's not clear from your post whether it's still leaking or not.
However.........
I had to replace the broken tie rod and seal (£20. simple job) in my leaking Carver Cascade. A common failure apparently. It has a thermal cut-out which activates on 240v if the boiler doesn't have water in it and I expect there's an overheat cut-out when on gas. (See EDIT below). I've never operated mine on gas or 240v without water in the boiler. There is a thermostat which controls the water temp.
EDIT: Two safety features are included on the Cascade 2 these being:
1) A pressure relief valve which automatically opens if the internal pressure exceeds 3 bar (44 p.s.i.) then closes when the pressure drops.
2) A fusible plug which is located behind the cowl. If the temperature rises too high this plug melts and sprays water onto the burner thus causing the heater to shut down. See the User manual here:

Hello. I had a similar problem with my Burner unit, Had it repaired/reconditioned by Arcsystems, it lasted a few more years but the problem returned so I bought a replacement unit From the Henry boiler, which is a Chinese copy of the Carver boiler, you need to use the Henry control panel but the wiring is the same. There is a previous thread about this at https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/foru...cascade-rapide-with-henry-water-heater.68063/. Hope this helps

I believe that the Henry is no longer available but the Malaga E will fit with adaptations.
It does appeare that the Henry water heater has been discontinued, which is a shame. Burner units for the Carver are still available if you search but most seem to be pre owned, so looks like you pays your money and takes your chance down that road. The Malaga E looks like it could be a direct replacement for the carver as I quote
''When used with the adapter plate the Malaga makes an excellent replacement for the Carver Cascade originally fitted to many caravans as well its far east copy the Henry Water Heater.''

which is good to know
as spare parts for the carver become scarcer
