In early September the RH side Rear view mirror on my 2012 Chic C Line A class (LHD) was smashed by a fast moving Tipper Truck on the A259 between Guestling and Ickelsham near Rye. Those in this area will the narrow section I mean. The obliging truck driver didn't even slow down and disappeared in the distance as I stopped to pick up the pieces. The hit was from one of the new Chrome Shields some of these trucks have fitted.
However rant over, now to replacing the mirror.
After trying to source after market without any luck, called the local Carthago Specialist/Dealer and was told factory order only but may be obsolete part. But on investigation was still in parts catalogue so after parting with in excess of £700.00 for special order, part duly requested from Germany with about 8-12 weeks lead time.
Early December contacted dealer and was informed computer saying dispatch date from DE expected to be 17/12, so allowing for customs and Christmas should be here early Jan.
Having spoken to Dealer on 2 occassions since Christmas am today told they have received an email from Cathago Factory stating part no longer available. :madder:
They are now investigating a replacement part number which needs to be confirmed by the factory, but which may be a manual mirror.
If this is the case it will make my MH look like its got odd sized shoes on. Not happy.
Has anyone had any experience of sourcing items from Carthago, and/or differences in the UK dealer network where there may be an alternative response.
Or maybe rear view camera replacement systems?
Thanks for any advice.

Tipper trucks can be good like that, we also lost a mirror up the road from Dartmouth years ago. Did you try this site?

Morning, yes tried these guys a first port of call. Really helpful but same response. Can supply mirror covers but glass an issue.
Thanks

Another option is Reliance Caravan and Motorhome Services. They are authorised by Carthago to do warranty and maintenance work. Their parts guru Chris has an excellent reputation for tracking down parts and knowing who to contact. 01243 940050
