Seen a couple of Carthago Opus motorhomes come up for sale, they look a good quality well built motorhome both have been Mercedes based & automatic transmission which would be my preference, both I have seen for sale in the uk have been LHD was RHD a option when they were made as would want a RHD one if I could find one, any of you funsters owned one in the past or present? & happy to give reviews etc would be much appreciated, or if anyone is thinking of selling a Concorde motorhome I could well be interested but would need to be automatic ideally Mercedes based but definitely not a Fiat comformatic & not over 8 mtr length.

There’s a lovely quality Carthago for sale on here.

Just remembered it’s manual though. Of that vintage you’re looking at manual will be much more reliable.

Thanks Paul for your response, my next van has to be proper torque converter automatic, I had a Concorde prior to my present Hymer & was very impressed with the build quality of it but at 9MTR it was just to long to be practical, budget is fairly healthy so just asking what is out there that might be coming up for sale before next spring.

Good luck, my opinion and experience if you are looking at older vans like the Opus, then the older Mercedes 2.7cdi 156 bhp is not powerful enough to be pull 6 tonnes.

The Opus I saw advertised today has the 3 ltr V6 engine with torque converter box, my previous Concorde had the 5 cylinder 2.7 engine with 5G box pulled ok for 6.3 tonnes.

Our previous Hymer 6.4 tonnes Merc 2.7 full auto( They didn’t do sprintshift on the 6 tonne chassis) was terrible on anything but downhill, up any hills it was embarrassing.
