Hi, we are looking at a new Carthago, either the Malibu i500 QB or the C tourer 150 QB
We have a house in Scotland & a house in Jersey, but would do most of our touring in Europe, probably storing the van in France, therefore thinking a left hand drive.

Really I’m just looking for some advice on the van choice, and other people’s experience of storing the van in France &what company people use.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, Both of those are nice A-Class vans. LHD is a good idea if the van is going to stay on the continent. When it needs an MOT you'll have to bring it home.

Not sure about French storage but as Camping Cars are so popular I imagine there are plenty of storage places.

Exciting times, and welcome to the fun (y)

Thanks Jim.
Decisions aren’t easy and the restrictions on Jersey are ridiculous. Thanks for your input. Much appreciated.

Just thought, there are limits as to how long you can keep a UK registered vehicle in France without importing it, so that is something to consider too

Maybe we should buy it in France…. Eliminate the issues

Unfortunately you won’t be able to register or insure vehicle in France unless you are French resident.

Judging by the difference in price of them between UK and Germany I'd buy it in Germany, LHD and register it in France.
Waken up Tam, read post 6 😜

I registered a German (EU) built Hymer in France it took six months and €1000. And I second that you cannot store an English registered vehicle in France and you can’t own a vehicle in France unless resident and think very carefully about that. We have just returned to the UK after 20 years there. We ended up being taxed 37.5% without any allowances on all our UK investment income including everything earned in our pensions. They treated ALL UK investment income as unearned income. So full tax and social charges.
