Getting there!
Time to look at upgrading the woeful sound of the audio system in my Compactline....

Included in my book pack were the details for a Jehnert AMP V40 CampTec 4-channel amplifier so I figure that this is connected to output of the Fiat head unit. This also controls the audio in, from the TV.

This amplifier turns on automatically when it either senses the head unit or the TV is turned on.

Step 1 is to upgrade the 4 fitted speakers. As they are only 10cm units I don’t think I’ll be able to get a massive improvement with out spending a huge amount.

Step 2 is to fit a under-seat powered bass speaker.

So before I randomly start dismantling the dashboard does any one know where i might find the location the Jehnert AMP ?

At the same time I will fit the front and rear dash-cam I removed from my PVC... wish me luck!

Our last Hymer had had surround sound and a base speaker, it annoyed me also anyone parked next to me I did manage to switch it all off,
But if your hearing is not to good there are some good headphones on the market that may be a better proposition 👍

It's more for the clarity of the sound, It's OK with Radio 4 / Talk Radio but I can't listen to music when driving as it's just too tinny sounding.

I'm going to wire it so that the bass speaker is only active when driving, so it's not on when the TV is. I learnt that from a previous instal on my first Hymer ... the bass sounded great from the outside!

Fit some sound deadening while you're in behind stuff.
Yep ..it really does make a difference. I have some left over the last instal.

Our Hymer has ceramic resonators mounted in the rear wall when you have the system set up for a decent sound. The sound outside the back of the van is louder than inside.
