Who keeps a spare regulator (or other gas spares) in their van, and have you ever had to use it? Thinking it may be prudent to have, especially for going abroad.

We had one fail in France and had no difficulty getting a replacement, once we found a dealer. I don't remember it being any dearer than it would have been here. I do remember they fitted it for €10 doing all the leak tests afterwards as I did not have the appropriate tools with me.

When I part exchanged my lastvan they said itwas going to the auction and to take off all my extras so took off the regulator as well as a spare. Still have it but not had to use it though. (y)
I also carry spare hose washers.

I carry a bottle top regulator and a hose that will connect to the system.
Not going to carry a spare bulkhead one as they are well over £200 for the one in my van.

My 37Mb regulator screws directly onto our Gaslow with a 21mm LH thread/ Are these still available?

We always carry a spare just in case this happens!!

We normally carry a spar, first time we didn't the regulator went 🤣

No, a replacement crash-tested GOK reg is £180 - had mine replaced by Autogas2000 two years ago when I swapped motorhomes and wanted to transfer the two 11kg aluminium bottles.
I originally bought a 'kit' from Autogas2000 and fitted it all into my prevoius motorhome but wanted to get the swap done profesionally, glad I did because the original regulator was not tripping as it should.
There seems to be quite a big list of spare parts you could carry and I'm sure some people with extra storage space and carrying capacity do carry many replacement spares along with all the tools to perform many repairs. Carting any extra weight is one of my problems (in the camper rather than round my waist !)
I'd buy a regulator and bottle locally if need arose.
That reminds me, I have a spare French plastic square half full gas bottle and pigtail with regulator which I'll put in the items for sale section (free to collect)

Having had two Truma securemotion bulkhead regulators fail, we now have fitted the Cavagna unit and carry a boxed spare in the van. After the second failure, we had a Truma in-line filter fitted. Touch wood, that was three years ago and no problems. Fear this has jinxed it😱.

We do Morag & Andy, and have done for a few years now, but fortunately not required it yet...........touch wood. ;)

We also carry a Gaslow Jumbo Adapter and hose for connection to a Spanish cylinder, as well as a UK 37mb Propane cylinder regulator and hose, and a Spanish equivalent. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

I think so the change to 30mb was 2002 I think.
When did you last change your regulator? As they only have a 10 year life.

I confess to not having changed and as I bought the MH at 6 years it is probably the original from 2003.

I have seen opinion that the older ones were more robust, but I should have a spare. Are they available? Easier to ask on here than trying to find a Polish supplier and explain the request.

Fairly certain they are still available buy a new one and keep the old one for emergency.

The only thing that I carry is a thin nosed electronic gas detector. 👍
