Hi all
Whats your views on carpets in mh?
Just had a trip to Spain without carpets easy to sweep.
Got back and put carpets back in. Would feel warmer in colder months but I did like the ease of cleaning without carpets.

We had some vinyl flooring (left over from kitchen) which hubby cut to size to fit most of the floor in our MH due to us having floor hatches and a 'leaky' dog at the time! We haven't got her now but have left it down as it helps protect the existing floor and gives a bit of cushioning then on top we have some of the dirt grabber type mats which can be easily taken out and shaken/swept, even washed if needs be. These are the cotton twill type with a rubbery backing so don't slip around - avoid the ones with a mix of cotton and nylon/poly threads as they are rubbish.

No. When needed/wanted we use turtle mats instead. One mat, and one runner. Can then just throw them in the washing machine.

We’ve got an elderly dog who struggles with slippery floors so mats for him are a necessity.
Otherwise, not sure, personal preference I guess

Muttly has difficulty understanding laminate flooring in the house even after eighteen months living here. A shiny slippery floor in the motorhome would not be fair on him. Also it’s nice underfoot during our winter trips.
Yes the carpet needs a good hoovering after each trip and we take it out to clean occasionally.

Thats what we do now but was really good not having the carpets when on holiday

The missus is a wheelchair user so no carpets in the MH and I have a cosy pair of slippers, as a plus it is easy to keep clean, we don't do much cold stuff though, Italy, Spain, Slovenia etc

Never used the carpets in our last motorhome. The new owners will got factory condition carpets when we trade this one is as well.
Last house we renovated, underfloor heating and tiles. Trust me clean your carpets at home and look at the colour of the water when you empty the carpet cleaning machine, you will be horrified.

Our MH (German) came with fitted carpets/mats.
Hard as nails but have lasted brilliantly.
We’ve put runners over the top which we got at
a show somewhere, they attract Mutt-fluff like a magnet

Carpet for us all year round.
Just finished another building project and some of carpet left over so my carpet man is making up a spare set😁😁
Will be lot cheaper than what the manufacturer sells them for😳😳
Although my carpet man did say they did supply a good quality carpet.

Carpet in the winter, turtle mats in warmer weather and on the continent.

Amtico flooring fitted in van so SHMBO wants to show it off, me I put rugs down it keep van feeling a little warmer and they can be pulled out for shaking when required, a bit of a ‘half way house’ compromise.

I have a theory that Vax put something in the cleaning liquid that automatically makes it go black in the carpet cleaner. 😀

We do clean ours every now and again with a Vax which uses hot water and also dries as it goes, you do indeed get some mucky water out sometimes but it beats having a tiled/laminate/wood floor where you get tumbleweed rolling all over it every day, especially with 3 dogs pottering around.

We have carpet in the cab and between the beds at the rear of the motorhome but have removed the one that covers the floor at the hab door and in front of the kitchen area. Makes it easy to sweep out where we may tread dirt in but nice and cosy if getting out of bed during the night.

Cannot believe my 2 Jacks have any fur left, I hoover the van every 2 days with the Dyson and pick up half a load of hair🤬🤬
Doesnt help much when they like to have a good back scratch on the carpet, although one of them has give up now after getting carried having a scratch and rolled down the footwell😂😂

No for us we have them just up the loft but I have to say the one reason we don’t use them is the colour there the factory ones and are a very light cream😵‍💫😵‍💫 I think thy would be destroyed on the first outing.

It has to be carpet for me, all the time and all year round.
They clean fine - and I don't fuss about taking my shoes off when going inside.

As above

Runners are a good compromise.

These were around £7 each from Dunhelm two years ago, although we will buy some new ones this winter.

Last van had cream coloured carpet. Nightmare to keep clean. This van just has vinyl. We have a mat at the entrance. Also have slipper socks which keep toes toasty!
