Caravan club

It only takes a few mins to get through the system but I have had a few times the old squeaky bum time when cancelling one site to book another in case it gets booked in the small transition time.
Yip but you have two tabs open and process your new booking as far as you can then in the second tab cancel your original booking. Jump back to other tab and "place booking".
Never done it before myself, right enough! :whistle2: :whistle2: :whistle2:

Or two phones with the app open on each.

I was a member of both and would be again if forced to tour in the UK. The CL and CS network is good. I found the actual sites of both unpleasant, regimented and expensive so did not use unless essential. Facilities on sites seemed poor, very few had drive over dumping though may be better now. Can't speak of their toilets etc as never used them.

Don't think a C&MC member can book more than one site for same or overlapping dates?
CMHC does not allow that.
I think you are both correct now about duplicate booking. But they still do not take any deposit, which means members booking up for every weekend as soon as they come on the market and then cancelling if they decide not to go out that weekend. Result is still that the popular sites are booked solid especially at weekends. I much prefer the pay deposit up front commitment of the CCC. And their THSs.

THS are excellent. Like massive CS sites. You can find somewhere to park (often the local rugby club on summer break) within walking distance of somewhere touristy for £8 per night or thereabouts. No expensive facilities to pay for, just black waste dump, water and a field. Invariably easy to get in, as the fields are usually many times the size required to fit everyone on.

Yin and Yan really. some will like the flexibility like we do. Yes for popular places, they become booked early but then if you are flexible, there are usually places that come on in the week or so before.

We use the C & MHC club sites and have found them excellent in every respect. We've just been on Incleboro at West Runton. It's a large site but we found a lovely pitch, tucked away. The good thing about the C&MHC is that you choose your own pitch, so not regimented. This site has a motorhome service area, with drive over dump, toilet emptying and water fill. This facility appears to be the norm on these sites now.

We used our own facilities but in the past have used their showers and toilets. These facilities are always up to a really high standard.

Yes the sites aren't cheap but you really do get what you pay for.

By definition the two big players were primarily formed for tuggers who were not equipped for self sufficiency. The Motorhome fraternity are more mobile and most of us do not wish to be in a Ryan Air Destination in the middle of nowhere. There are of course a number of sites near of within towns and cities whose prices are reflective. but I have no need of their shower block , veg prep etc.
A couple of years ago we visited the Cavalry Museum in Samur France. Huge FREE Car Park right by the Museum. A few hours in the museum and a wander around the City. Not quite time to see the Castle. I think we overnighted there. Nothing compares to an Aire or Stelplatz in a town or village. Fresh bread at the Boulangerie, a market if you are lucky, and no one telling you to park close to the White Post!!!!!
The Brit Stops network has been a good alternative but if you have a meal and a couple drinks it’s an expensive stop. Let’s hope the local councils in this country wake up to the potential revenue that they deny to the local businesses, and start to get their act together and provide a decent Aires System!

Made me smile, a meal and drinks is to expensive inc a stop over but if given a free Aires motorhome owners would spend lots of money in the economy.

Save your pennies.
You don't need either of them.
You assume a great deal, what if they do not have solar or big batteries 🤪

We have just booked Dornafield in Devon, 7 nights from 19th £202 and we are very happy about that as it's fully serviced and has exactly what we want in a site, and car hire Enterprise deliver to site. The the last 2 sites we have been on in North Wales and Shropshire were similar.

Why do ‘which club to join’ threads always turn in to a discussion on aires and wild camping?

We use CAMC, always clean and safe and reasonable value.
I totally agree. As a single 'lady', I don't want to overnight in a pub carpark or a layby miles from anywhere. As for going abroad on my own, no chance!

I tend to use C&CC sites more because they give us wrinklies a discount and have cheap non-electric pitches but they do tend to be in the middle of nowhere. CAMHC have more town centre locations where I can walk to the shops/restaurants/galleries without moving the van.

Up date, Enterprise won't delivered to the site at the mo due to the 19. Bugger now we will have to wait until Monday morning to "Go Touring".

The CAMC website is easier to book. However we are members of both as we like cs and cl The cheaper small privately owned alternative to a large site.

Yeah I don't think they will deliver anywhere as they need to clean the car before you use it so technically, they would have to clean it after the 10-15 min delivery drive.
Had the same response trying to get cars dropped off for corp trips.

For our first year we joined both, worked out which suited us better. We are still members of both: the Caravan Club for the "members only" insurance and the Camping and Caravan Club because we prefer their sites.

I'm in the CCC. As a single camper with the age discount and good solar so not needing electric I generally find their main sites cheaper than CS's. I seldom pay more than £8 - £10

I agree with others , having spent a lot on you MH and having the ongoing cost , insurance , tax , service, the cost of club membership is a drop in the ocean . To get the best I would recommend both .

If you are touring, especially in Europe, and you prefer campsites then ACSI is a must.

I joined both with the intention of seeing which was better for us (we are MH) and found that we get different things from each one so, for an extra £50 a year we have stayed in both and believe we get value out of each of them

Interesting comment Yorkcov.
I to am in CCC and do not need or want leccy but struggle to get a booking that does not include leccy so end up paying for it when not wanted... Thus the main reason I prefer THS where leccy not usually available and prices reflect this.

Enterprise delivered to New centenary site Bransgore in mid July from their Christchurch depot for £10 each way well worth it ,give them another try and ask if they would do it for a fee.

see my post re savings within a month £ over £500

But depends if you use M6 toll or Ferries
Not going to search for your other post..But if you mean the CC give discounts on M6 toll... they don't (unless reinstated very recently). It has been cancelled
