Hi. Anyone using this app, looking at it it seemed very useful for our next 90 day wander, travelling down to Portugal from Santander ferry port. Paid the £8 to be able to download off line maps but having problems both on my ipad and iphone. Take Spain download the first three next on disappears after selecting it. Have un installed and re installed app as suggested by their customer service but still no good. Also the screen will go white and the only way is to remove and replace the app

You may find, as is common with any map download device or app, its a space issue.

You probably can not download all the maps in one go.
Download the first one or two that you need, and then you may have to delete the first one to make space to download the third one and so on.

I also find with maps software you get what you pay for.
A cheap paper small scale road atlas from last year would cost you more than £8.

An annual update for Garmin or TomTom is in the region of £70-90.

Garmin and TomTom are the two big suppliers of European map data, so most other companies selling map data have to buy from one of them.
(Originally including Google and Apple!)

I don't see how a Europe wide electronic map can be sold at £8 and be any good.

Google make their money in a different way.

Mostly off the business that advertise their location (which is why some very prominent businesses are 'missing', or in the wrong location on Google maps)
They also make a lot of money tracking vehicles for companies like DHL etc.
They also make money from websites with location maps, such as estate agents etc.

No one can afford to provide maps for free, someone somewhere is paying a lot of money for it.
Creating and then maintaining maps is a very expensive and employee heavy business.

True about cost of maps but if the advert for it was clearer, the bit about downloading of line maps was to cut down on data use when there.
