I am about to buy a new car and insure it in my name.
My problem is NCB. For a few years now I have only been a named driver on my wife's car and, to be quite honest, have probably driven it more than her, which is strictly a no no! Although her policies, with me named, have been claim free for at least 15 years, I do not earn an NCB.
I am the sole driver in our motorhome and have been claim free with Comfort for 10 years.
As I understand it, a NCB can only apply to one vehicle, so is there any way I can benefit from all these claims free years in the new car, which will replace my wife's but be in my name?
Any Funsters out there with any experience/advice please?

Although not a formal NCB, motorhome insurers will look at your driving record and apply a similar discount to a NCB.
AIB certainly do, and I presume others do too and it's sure to work in reverse for car insurance ?

Nfu do

Insure the new one in your wife's name
As she is unlikely to drive it much at all, it's potentially risky....fraud even. I've been stretching this for years and, as she says herself, in the event of a claim who would know. But Sods Law being as it is, who knows?

Tony - NEVER tell lies even white lies to your insurer. It makes the policy completely invalid, so you are wasting your money !

Try AIB always been reasonable, plus the MHF discount. Plus plus you get to speak to a real human.

Try Aviva, they recenty told me they would accept my wife's nbc, not in use on any other vehicle, to insure a car in my name (also main driver) as far as she was one of the additional drivers (I decided not to buy the car did not pursue this further)
