Seems that a lot of people think twice having started a post but before posting and then cannot get out of the post. The other forums I use all have a 'Cancel' option when writing a post that simply closes the window with no save. Every platform I have ever worked on has it as an option, sometimes with a third 'Save as Draft' option so you can come back to it, but I accept the latter needs regular housekeeping such that you don't end up with lots of them hanging about.
Of course the 'think twice before posting' principle fits in nicely with rule 1!
