Getting Better
I’ve put 4 new tyres on, Maxxis vansmart 225/75/16 121 All Season changed from continental campers same pressures as always 55psi fronts and 60 rears. I’m a 3500kg Fiat Ducato 6m 3ltr comformatic 2011 pvc 130k on the clock.

They run smoother as I would expect from a new tyre and they seem to be fine don’t know about noise levels as can’t remember how loud the last ones were….

But… I’ve had the van nearly 2 years now and I generally cruise everywhere at 60mph and I get 28-30mpg the most being 32 on a long run.

Now with these new tyres I’m running at 35.8mpg, I’ve done nearly 500 miles on them…🤷🏼‍♂️

3 years 30,000 miles UK and Europe.. Campsites and off Grid.
Different tyre trad/compound can make a difference in economy. Normally there is a compromise though - less rolling resistance will improve economy but decrease grip.

Has the banging and crashing stopped after you have driven over a fag paper like the Continentals cp did?

Yes they have immensely, but I do realise that new tyres are soft and pliable so they would be better but in a few years they will harden so time will tell…

We have just fitted Falken EuroAll Season tyres which have made a tremendous difference to the “bang/crash” of the previous Continental CPs.

Major potholes and sunken drain covers still bang, due to the over firm suspension of the FIAT Ducato, but even that is “softer” than before.

A vast improvement.

I know nothing about the mechanical side of motorhome running, but, as co-pilot I get feedback. Martin jumar is impressed with our Hymer on our present trip. It had two new tyres and also some wheel and steering work. He says it like driving a different van.

Whether it get more mpl we don't measure. It does what it does.

Just put four Bridgestone Duravis All Season tyres on plus one on the spare, cost £750 but so far very good.

I love my Maxxis tyres on my bike but even these are about £80 each and only last me a year.

A whole year? We have fairly new bikes for this trip...when I ordered jumartoo a new bike I got the Maxxis Minnion swapped for Ardent....more suitable for our riding here in Spain....the MH is carrying the next set of tyres just in case they don't last the trip, and an unfortunate unrepairable tear could happen....trying to get good tyres in some of the way out places could be challenging..
I've spares for my bike too...but 5000 km so far is pleasing..
Back to Van tyres...New Cross climate up front Magic... Air suss on back... smooooooooth.😀🥳🇪🇦

I hasten to add that the cab air-con was on all the time too…👍🏼
