Hi, Our RV is due shortly to be fitted with Maxxair Deluxe Fans. I have read previous posts on the subject - but can’t decide what colour fan I should choose. Smoke or white??
I was wondering if anyone has their vehicle in the Hampshire area with one of these fans fitted that I could come and view.
I‘m leaning towards the white but am just wondering how much darker the interior will be compared with choosing the smoke. Or whether the smoke casts a grey kind of light?
Would love to see both in situ so that I can make the right decision 👍
Thanks in advance

If you like it fairly dark in the mornings, I would go for the smoked with the additional blinds.
Our smoked just dim the light - there is no discernable colour change.
Maybe one of the motorhome dealers (Marquis?) can help you out.

Agree smoke is only a light tint. And blinds a lot better unless your an early riser 😁

I think it would be easier if they were more honest with the available choices.
White
Black
Smoked

There is no clear available.

I’d also recommend seeing, trying the blind as it’s not the same quality as the fan

Mine’s white that lets in light but reflect a lot of heat, first picture is bedroom with both windows blinds shut and Maxxair vent open, second picture is the same with Maxxair vent closed,
I have the blind fitted but never needed to use it, only the LEDs that are helpful and easy to use when getting in and out of bed,

Check out Greg Virgoe you tube vid on unboxing a Maxxfan
He’s got lots of vids

It compares the lids in full. Must be the third time I’ve posted this link in various threads answering the same query

I decided against the blind at present as has quite poor reviews and expensive. I certainly don't need more lights in the bedroom, 8 already.

But is that real smoked or their smoked?
Mine is bought as clear, which is smoked tint. I think their “smoked” is black plastic so very to no natural light.

Yep that's one of the ones I had and still too light for me.
First one I did was tint and lighter still, so got the blind at extra 60 squid the rest I got the smoked and fitted a car pull out window blind at 4.99 from local tool stn.
Was going to fit on current van but vents are 50 x 50.
2 speed Ceiling fans doing the job so far.

Thanks Oldrat - have watched the unboxing video on You Tube- quite helpful.
Thanks huck999 - good suggestion to go to a Dealer’s- it never occurred to me! Doh!
Thanks ivorantony- for taking the time to upload the images showing the difference.
Really appreciate everyone’s efforts and comments. Just have to make my mind up now!

You can't use the blind and the fan at the same time as it pretty much completely blocks the airflow. I've got the clear/light smoke version directly above our bed. The fan on 10% overnight was very welcome in the recent heat. But I would have liked it to be a bit less bright in the mornings. The dark smoke or solid white hood probably would have been a better choice.

See the Greg Virgoe vids where he compares each of the 3 available lids. Only the white lid is a solid colour, I have the middle one, dark smoke, and it does let quite a bit of light in, as I wanted.

That's interesting, I assumed that the Sid white would block out most of the light so had discounted it but the fact the light still gets through plus the added benefit of it blocking some of the heat is worth considering.

If you don't want to buy the blind then you could make an insert, I used a car net one (the ones that spring into shape) and made a cover for it out of some old reflective tent material, it simply pops into place and stays there due to the springiness.

I haven't opted for the blind on mine. £86 is a bit much for something not really useful.
The fan unit is really good quality. The blind feels like bit of an afterthought and isn't up to the same standard. If you don't need the light, I wouldn't bother.

I certainly don't need the light. I think there must have been a special offer on gu10 downlighters when my 6.5m motorhome was built. There are 20 odd of them including 8 in the bedroom area where the maxxfan will be when it finally gets fitted.

The blind does have a reflective foil backing and it does block the majority of the airflow... which I guess might make it useful in the winter?
