Autotrail Apache 632
Exp
Since Sept 2019
We are going to Il de Re again this year, last two weeks of June. Don’t want to drive for much more than 6 hours on the way up on Saturday 28/6/25. I want to stop near Rouen on the way up because that will give me around an hour to get the Sunday morning ferry from Dieppe back to Newhaven.
We have Autotrail Apache 632 on a Ducato chassis, registered January 2013. I have Crit-Air 2 sticker.
Question is will I be able to use the route through Rouen on late Saturday afternoon as per GoogleMaps? Will I need and special permissions? ( Have read you can book them in advance?). Just thought, probably going to go South via Rouen on 13/6/25 and use a similar route.

Cheers!

Can’t help with the route through Rouen but as an alternative we pass west of the city crossing the river at the Pont de Brotonne. It’s a pleasant route (see the D313 on your map) and there’s a lovely aire at St Malleraye if it suits your timing. It’s about 50 miles to Dieppe.

We always go though rouen and have a crit air 2 sticker, without any problems

A further vote for the Pont de Brottone.

An additional option is to use one of the half dozen free river ferries (Bacs) that cross the Seine west of Rouen, all missing out the city itself.

That Aire looks really interesting. Looking on Google Maps there is now a barrier in place to enter. Do you know who or what I have to subscribe to to get entry (and exit!!!)

Another vote for the Pont de Bretonne (y)

Much better than the stress of having to manage the heavy traffic through Rouen

I set the satnav and approach on the free A28 and it takes me through a tunnel and round the crappy railway yards and the miles of graffiti covered rolling stock and we pop out the other side and away we go. I have done this with my car that was too polluting to get a crit'air and both my motorhomes. It's a transit route. My 2013 Elddis 115 was a yellow 2.

PlacidoD For entry there is a machine by the barrier, you enter details and it issues a ticket

On leaving, you insert the ticket and then pay by credit card

It sounds easy but to be honest we have chuckled at the time some take to get through the exit barrier, but everyone gets through in the end (sometimes with help :giggle:)

Agree with Willieboy on this. On one occasion a queue was starting as the barrier was misbehaving, a German gentleman strode forward and physically lifted it out of the way.
On our last visit the borne required a token that was available from the Marie.

Looks like I’m just going to blast through Rouen then! I will look at Pont Bretonne if we go back to the western side of France in 2026. Thanks sooo much for all your wise words and advice people!!

Cheers!
