ADRIA Twin 640SLB
Exp
Since 2012
I have a 2022 Adria Twin which has two side flush windows that open on side runners that click into 3 open positions as you open it upwards.

To close them you raise the window to its maximin opening and then it is supposed to close back down on the two side runners without engaging any of the 3 open positions.

Mine won’t close down unless I lubricate the runners. Then they work but after a relatively short time they revert to catching again. I use a WD40 dry PTFE lubricant spray to do the job.

I don’t find the need to open them onto the catches that often so it’s not a bind but if I couldn’t close them down again it obviously would be and it appears I can’t just force them down on the runners.

Does anyone know why they do this and is there a better way to prevent it or reduce my having to apply lubricant?

I’ve attached a photo and a video. Thanks in anticipation someone here will know about this 😜

There is a black art to these ratchet type window stays of which there are a few types! we had them on our Pilote,I found there was no need to open them fully to close them, just open enough to hear the ratchet disengage and ours shut. Even with ours there were a few times when I had to take one end of the stays off to close the window 🙄

I agree with that procedure.

Older van same window stays.
I was going to replace mine with the more normal stays as fitted to other vans . Sold the van before I did.

I’ll try that tomorrow before I take it back to storage, thanks 😊

I agree with rb62 , I rarely have to open mine fully.
Instead of WD40 etc. try giving the runners a good clean out with quick drying Carburettor Cleaner. I think the runners are supposed to be dry?
You can always go back to WD40 later? 😄

I’ve tried all the suggestions today, except for drying the track. None have worked, and it wouldn’t close until I sprayed it ☹️. I shall try drying it next time it’s home

We had the problem with our last van, we was parked in the dust bowl at Alvor the wind got up and we couldn't shut the window, 🤔 cleaned all the dust out and sprayed with silicone and all was well. 😁

Much prefer the Pilote with the twist to lock, than the ratchet 😉 especially when you open it too close to something and can't go up :whistle2: and end up having to unscrew it to shut the window.
Ask me how I know. :Eeek: Bob.
