Hi we are setting off next week for the Highland meeting and would like to call off at the lakedistrict. We are in South Yorkshire.

We have a 7.7 metre motorhome so wont be able to go anywhere thats a bit tight, roads as well as campsites. We came across a motorhome which had grounded itself on a tight switchback corner, he couldn't go forward or back! we dont want to get in a similar position.

Any advice on suitable wild camping or campsites would be gratefully appreciated.

Just booked in at Flusco Wood, Penrith, for a night on the 6th sept.
When i said a 7m motorhome with car on trailer ( prob 11m in total) they will allocate a large pitch where i dont need to unhook the trailer.

You can find them online.

Your MH is about the same as ours so the "Aire" at Ambleside would probably suit you. Minimal facilities (Water & Elsan) but within easy walking of the town and lake
It's called Millers Field if you want to do a google search
Email is mailto:mfmcambles%40hotmail.com

We are going to the mini meet via the east coast route from Newcastle, stopping off at a CL near pitlochry & then staying at Fortrose for a few days to see the dolphins. We will then stock up with fresh Scottish meat for the BBQ at the minimeet

Dixion, see you are stopping of at Pitlockry, in the car park in the center of Pitlockry next to the Library, there are large pitches for Motorhomes and caravans you can stay over night no problem, we often have, adjoined on to the car park there is a jewelry making factory that is open to visitors, which Barbara may like.

We stayed at Lowther Farm Caravan Site Kirkbride, Carlisle, Cumbria, CA7 5HW. Would recommend to anyone travelling to or from Scotland
