I am learning fast 😊
Hi Folks. I am looking at taking some time off in May Bank Holiday weekend in Spain. Does anyone know of any good location to camp. In a campsite or Off-grid? Thank you. Mou

There are some lovely beaches near Oliva, and plenty of campsites to choose from. It depends what you're after, we like this one which is on the beach and is clean but basic. It's an ACSI site, so make sure you have an ACSI card.

If you want to go a bit further, we like this Aire at Playa San Juan, near Alicante. It's close to the tram stop, which goes into Alicante or the other direction to Benidorm.

If intending parking outside of Campsites and Aires it might be worth searching locally the new rules in the Region of Valencia regarding a ban, which will come into force in May, I cannot offer more information and suggest you check this out locally.

It was announced by the Valencia Region earlier, stating that on May 8th a total ban on unofficial parking and sleeping in Motorhomes and Caravans......this has been contested by motorhome groups, how it has progressed I do not know, suggesting the OP check out locally.

Further to this a local Municipality to us has released a statement advising of a control of wild parking of Motorhomes within 5 km of campsites and restrictions on parking near rivers, roads and other locations..

May I suggest that anyone planning to visit the Costas, check first hand the current situation with the bodies who control these laws, that's why I cannot add anything further in fear of passing on inaccurate up to date information. Little more to add.

Martin, I posted this back in February:
Sorry if this has been posted before, but I´ve just seen this article in Autocaravan (Google translation):

As a result of the malaise caused in the motorhome sector by Decree 10/2021, of January 22, regulating tourist accommodation in the Valencian Community, the General Directorate of Tourism of the Generalitat Valenciana has issued a statement in which it clarifies that parking of motorhomes is excluded from the scope of application of the article which speaks of "free camping".

In recent days, different forums and motorhome groups, as well as the sector's employers' association, have noted some concern regarding section 5 of article 2, which describes free camping as "the possible installation of tents , caravans, motorhomes or other mobile shelters or means of accommodation with the intention of staying and spending the night in places other than the establishments regulated in this decree ”.

In this sense, the discomfort was caused by the fact that motorhomes (vehicles governed by traffic regulations) were included in the same category as other camping elements referred to by the concept of "free camping". To clarify this nuance, Aseicar has held a meeting with the General Directorate of Tourism of the Valencian Community at the end of which they have issued this statement :

«In relation to the doubts that are being raised regarding what is stated in article 2, section 5 of Decree 10/2021, of January 22, of the Consell, which approves the Regulatory Regulation of tourist accommodation of the Valencian Community, It is reported that section 5 of article 2 of the aforementioned Decree excludes from the application of this the parking with or without the intention of overnighting the motorhomes, since it does not prohibit or regulate the parking of these vehicles since this issue is not the responsibility of the tourist Administration".

Good news!!

We live in Javea so we wanted to see nature. Lakes. Rivers. Forest. A change from the beach. But thank you anyway. I will bear it in mind. (y)

Dear Martin. I discovered a good campsite in Xereco, with a good restaurant and within walking distance to the beach. I remembered you sending me a message regarding the campsite in Denia. I know it is only 20 min away from Javea but it could be good for a weekend. Do you happen to know how do I become members of ACSI? Do you know of any other good campsites in the area, even within 2 hours drive of Javea? Appreciate your help. Cheers. Mourad

ACSI has open access, each year you buy their guide book to all the Low Season campsites, inside the book is your membership card for that year, its as simple as that...but I must stress that its LOW season offers....
The guide book is available from them directly, Google ACSI or on their web site they list various outlets in Spain where the guide can be bought.

We've just been to a lovely CL type site, south of Valencia. I posted about it on here

It's towards the end, so no need to plough through it all!

One thing I stressed, and I'll say again here, the access is not suitable for vehicles longer than 7m. If you do go, call the owner and he'll meet you and see you through the gate.

You can park for the night with no problem??
Yes, very peaceful and sparsely populated. There are a couple of off grid restaurants (family kitchen types). Who will welcome you for a meal. We were there January 2020. Just us, a German and a Dutch motorhome.

Best to arrive in the daytime so you can see where to park.

Many thanks..... I will definitely give it a go. Thanks for the advice. Much appreciate it

We like El Saller 20 Km south of Valencia aires and free spaces on the beach 👌
We stayed in El Saler, on a basic but adequate site. Bus stop outside for Valencia, and walk or cycle to sandy beach which has two good restaurants, and a naturist area along to the right. El S has several cafe/bar/ eateries.
