We are travelling to York for a few days then onto Scarborough, Caravan and Motorhome Club want £ 29.90 per night !! Near York just wondered if any Funsters know of more reasonable priced sites or Pub near York and Scarborough, so either we can walk or catch a bus nearby as these Club prices are getting out of hand.
Thanks

How about C&MC North Yorkshire site 50% off midweek

Scheck to see if either of the clubs are holding a rally in the cricket club. A decent walk into York but only £11 pupn if memory serves me right. It’s a nice walk along the river.

I know the C&MC York is not the cheapest but it is so convenient. A two minute walk and you are at Cliffords Tower and another minute or two puts you in the middle of town.

North Yorkshire centre CAMC have a Rally York, 6-9 June.

Try the Lysander Arms caravan site at Rawcliffe. 13 hardstanding pitches ar £ 25 per night. Park and ride 10 mins walk.

We have used Ashfield Touring Park at Dunnington, you can catch the bus into York on the main road, 10 minute walk.
Great facilities and peaceful

Based on the prices being given, York CAMC isn’t over priced. If you can get in, it is very close to town. We go as often as we can.

Another vote for Lysander arms nice site

Bleak House Farm Fulford York, bus stop on Broadway a couple minutes walk or you can cycle in straight along the river on about 10 to 15 mins or less
£7 a night, no leccy but a nice site.

York caravan park adults only bus stop right outside the entrance immaculate site very clean toilets and showers all private rooms but it is £30 per night but much better then club sites in my opinion

Near Scarborough you have the Royal Oak pub at Hunmanby, then a bus ride to Filey, Bridlington and Scarborough, no charge at the pub. Also some wild camping across the road from Cayton Bay holiday park, great views over the cliff. Also some wild camping near the sea life centre Scarborough.

Hi thanks for input , but, paying nearly £40 per night wherever it is in the UK is not good value, the CAMC and the C&CC are running like big businesses, I can afford to stay but there are a lot of people especially those on pensions around £150 per week who would love to stay on these type of sites cannot afford too. These clubs brag about they are owned by the Members for the Members it is about time they listened to the Members

I was trying to make reference to the costs of sites suggested by others on this thread ranging from £25-30 pupn, which is very close to your quote of £29.90. Having the convenience of being able to walk in town rather than getting the bus would be a decider for me. It’s all down to choice.

Nearby you have the piebald inn, free to stop (if you have pie). ;)
Train station 5 mins walk for trains to Scarborough

The pie concept is great, but a long wait to get served. It’s a shame because if they had 10 pies not 40 pie choices the quality would be just as good but better service. Shame also they don’t do a sandwich type lunch.

Wild camp in the layby, shielded from the road by trees, at the Mercure Fairfield Manor Hotel on the A19 on the North side of York. Bus stop directly opposite and less than one mile from the Lysander Arms.
I should say that although I have used this place myself the place can be used as a 'dogging' site
Approximately half a mile beyond this travelling North there is another layby on the opposite side of the road although this is not shielded by trees and it has a slight slope to it.
Norman.

You can easily walk it from the site I mentioned, 30 mins tops. 7 quid a night.

Keep walking to river and turn right not left, left takes you further out of York, it's a beautiful cycle ride that way into York you come out right at the lovely Sam Smith pub on the river Kings Arms.
I cycle it all the time when we go.
