Just looking at booking one of these sites and noticed that they charge £5 per night extra for a trailer over 1.2m in length and as we sometimes put a scooter on trailer it seemed an excessive charge, particularly as a car towing a wobble-box is not charged extra. I asked them the question on their Facebook page and their reply was "..Caravans and motorhomes are both considered camping units in their own right, and yes, if a motorhome was towing anything other than a small car, there would be an additional charge.".

I can sort of see what they are trying to do, so a towed car on an A frame isn't charged, but a car on a trailer is (presumably as once the car (or scooter) is unloaded the trailer becomes another "thing" on the pitch. However, out of awkwardness I asked, again on their Facebook page "...but it seems very unfair that one vehicle towing a "camping unit" is charged less than a "camping unit" towing a motorcycle trailer or, indeed, a trailer containing a mobility scooter. I suppose we could carry a gazebo on the trailer and then erect it over the trailer, thus forming a camping unit?".

The answer was an immediate "ring us to discuss or give us a number to call you back". I've noticed this a few times that companies do not like discussing their policy on open forums.

Anyway, we ain't paying a fiver over the top so it's either leave the trailer off or go elsewhere. Hope all sites don't start this malarkey.

Then you'd have to pay £10 for the gazebo. Assuming they allow them at all of course ;)

Seriously though having worked for them for four years, the pricing structure is a mysterious thing and I completely agree it seems unfair that a massive car and caravan pay one price and a relatively small motorhome with a 1.3m trailer pay the extra.

I don't know where they get their pricing from, we had a small car once and was charged extra on the pitch, what's the difference I asked, it's 2 vehicles so twice their insurance? ??? But a trailer. ..who knows! !

Im at a loss to some charges.

You hire a pitch that is a certain size surely if all your bits fit on that pitch its job done.

Its like paying extra for an awning, whats that all about?
