Few years ago I got the reputation of being a collector. Couldn’t go to a show without coming back with a couple of chairs. Have ranged from those that fold into bags, director’s chairs ( with and without side table and drinks holders ), lafuma and Brennan. Have managed to resit temptation in recent years but succumbed to these at the Malvern Western show- didn’t buy a cowboy outfit though.
They’re described as stools which collapse down with carry straps, very light. Have used occasionally as stools BUT they’re just the right height for drinks tables. Big enough to accommodate a glass of wine and Pringles. For some reason we call them daleks.
Point is we’re actually using them. FFBD3856-4539-4CA7-9F27-ECF083B2CB43.jpeg20960892-AEB0-4374-A0FC-EDA5E504DEEB.jpeg

Don't know what the designer was smoking o_O when he came up with the idea, but these things are brilliant(y). Another advantage is they are small and light enough to go into a backpack, if you like walking but need a rest at regular intervals.

My wife can't walk far and needs to sit down frequently. I often carry ours in a rucksack for her.

I also have one of those. Really handy when Duxette spends hours* inside one of the many shops that doesn't have a chair for gentlemen's use.

*feels like that

Bought one of these stools a couple of years ago, before all the knock off versions appeared. Didn't last the first day of use collapsing under me. I know I'm a bit on the heavy side but was still well under the claimed load rating.

I think it is essential these are carefully extended and make sure all the lugs are fully engaged and that it is placed on flat and even ground. Within those limitations it probably works well.

and if you remove the finger hole piece at the top end can it have a dual purpose use? Just make sure you don't compress it again though!

I've got one of these "mushroom" pop up stools, not used it much. In fact putting it in the van to use as a cup of tea stool next to my camping chair is a good idea!

For motorcycle camping with a tent, I used to carry a little mini-folding stool but always, even as a youth, suffered with my back and not having a back rest. Then I bought one of these:-

Fantastic bit of kit - weighs next to nothing, easy enough to put together, and - whilst not up to the standards of a full size "normal" folding camping chair - very comfortable, even for a big bloke like me. Well worth the space on the bike, straps on top of my tent. Wouldn't travel without one now.

Re collapse. I always press down on top to make sure all lugs locked before use. To have it collapse loosing other half’s wine would be a disaster resulting in possible injuries
