Off over to France in the summer and busy trip planning. I notice lots of these Camping Car parks have popped up or taken over some of our old haunts. I wasn't keen on the idea when I first saw them popping up a few years back. I always preferred the out of the way village or countryside aire that varied quite a lot and where you didnt have to faff on with cards and barriers but it does seem looking at the map that they have introduced one or two in places that were poorly served before so I will almost certainly use them.

However reading on a motorhome FB group just now someone said they are generally limited to three days maximum and that you needed the privilege pack to stay longer. In their terms and conditions I did find reference to a max stay of three days but no reference to a privilege pack overriding this so I thought I would ask the question on here. Anyone stayed longer than three days on one without issues?

The 3 day limit is for non-booked stays where you just arrive and enter if there is space. I think the 3 day limit is because you effectively pay in arrears on exit.

I don't think you need the Privilege Pack to be able to access the basic reservation feature. There are advance reservation features with the Privilege Pack.

Take a look at the full terms and conditions here: https://www.campingcarpark.com/en_GB/info/terms-and-conditions.

Stay (not booked)’ refers to any stay made without a booking at an area. It consists, at the very least, of one entry and one exit from the Area, recorded by a barrier crossing and a loop detection on the ground or by an authorised CCP operator. A stay may not exceed 3 days (some Areas are below this time limit, in which case the time limit is specified on the CCP Media for these Areas). In the event that the stay exceeds three nights, the Customer must pay for a Booking or a Sécuriplace.

Thanks. Yes I found that bit but it didn't make a lot of sense to me. Still doesn't really.

We recently stayed on one in Spain that had a limit of 48 hours which was fine as it gave enough time to visit local area, they actually phoned me after the first night to remind/ check I knew it was 48 hours. The cost was €1 pn with ehu so I assumed some have tried to abuse the system.

I’ve found they are usually of a fairly consistent, decent standard. Although you need an entry card you don’t need to faff about trying to find a shop to buy a jeton etc. Good service if you need to phone for any reason. I think if you need to stay more than three nights a phone call will authorise it except in sites where there is high demand and they want to be fair and allow others to use the site.

We once stayed 10 nights on a ccp aire, no privilege pack or previous booking.
What can they do, refuse to take your money? We usually only stay a max of 2 though.
It's probably one of their rules made more in hope than expectation, like the 'ehu is for battery charging only'. We use it for the fridge and water heating too if we need to.

Thats what I was hoping for. Its odd though that the person on FB reckoned he got a call from Camping Car park on his third day saying he would need a Privilege pack to stay any longer. Sounds to me like they were trying it on to flog him something he didn't need. Ill just wing it and see what happens. Our van doesn't move when parked up as we use the scooter which is another reason we tend to stay a bit longer sometimes in one place. Our trip will be over the summer school holidays so I would rather avoid actual campsites in that period. Mainly we will be using out of the way aires and a bit of wilding.

Hi, we have the CCP PACK Privileges, so I've just checked and I can book a site for June up to 14 days. The CCP PP is only €29 for a year, so I feel it's good value as it lets you book on advance online. We went to Brittany for ten days last September and we found that quite a few of the non-CCP Aires were actually full, so we were very pleased to have the CCP PP - it came in very handy. We usually just stay a night or two at each location before moving on.

Thanks. Opinions seem to differ on the threads I found as to whether you can book in advance on the standard membership. I have emailed CCP for clarification. I dont mind paying 29 euros but only if I have to. I also asked for clarification on the length of stay.

Just be careful if you do book in advance and then have a change of circumstances. You need to give them 3 days email notice to contact them to cancel otherwise you lose the money.

I have never found it necessary to book anywhere in France even in August and I've been going there for 50 years. Booking an aire seems to be a unnecessary and inconvenient tie.
In the unlikely occurrence that somewhere is full there is always an alternative nearby.

We stayed one night a site in France, that had, what looked like people living in one, can't remember the place though. There were 4 people living in a large tent that looked like it had been there a good while.

Ccp are forever flogging their privilege pack, it's pretty poor value as its only benefit is booking in advance which is unnecessary .
Incidentally many times, have seen usually the French, tailgating another through the barrier to avoid paying, which could potentially mean that even if you've booked you may not find a vacant pitch.
A favourite of ours, St Martin d'ardeche is opposite a free car park so we've seen some tent campers park opposite and walk across to pitch, thus occupying a pitch without it being recorded. There are toilets and showers in high season.

No me neither. It was more the question of staying more than three days really if we find a good one. I wasn't sure if you needed to have prebooked that or not. I have emailed CPP to ask.

We have and use our card often. I’ve never been questioned regarding more than 3 night stay just tapped card on exit, normally about €15 per 24hr period. However we decided on one occasion to “pre book “ a location and we had to buy the Privilege package to do so. Not really an issue €25 for the year. All of the Aires we stayed on had everything we required. You do need to tap your card to get water but there’s no charge. Highly recommend.
