Am I reading this correctly, that you can only cancel the Privileges Pack by post? We have the pack but I don't want it any more. It seems archaic to have to write to them to cancel a subscription! Thanks for any advice :)

Yes……I had to do that last year. They wouldn’t accept email or telephone cancellation….archaic but I suppose some people won’t bother and it will just auto renew. They emailed me confirmation of my letter of cancellation!

Yes, I suspect that's their tactic to hold on to renewals. It's not very customer friendly, though. Oh well, a letter it is. I feel more determined than ever to cancel now. I actually don't like the way it's run, anyway, particularly the way that they don't publish negative reviews. Their loss, now I've learned from you guys that there are lovely places to stay without using sites :)

There is no 'suspect' about it.
Of course that is why they accept letters only, as people and companies can no longer be bothered with the cost, the time and the effort to write and deal with letters.

They do publish negative reviews.

We pulled into one of their Aires and found it neglected and overgrown with weeds. We had wanted to spend the night but only serviced the m/h and left.

We left a review of one star, (you can’t leave less), with a negative comment and suggested that unless it was improved people should avoid it. They e-mailed me apologising for the condition and saying they would take it up with the operator. My review didn’t appear for about six weeks but was then published together with comment that action had been taken regarding the overgrown nature of the Aire.

Clearly they didn’t want to publish my review until they had rectified the situation.

They also charge a fee for the cancellation and if your card is not returned or is defaced in any way they will charge you for the card also.

I cancelled ours last year and they are slow to respond to say the least

I wrote a negative review and it was never published. I've read before (please don't ask me to quote it because I can't remember where it was now) that other people's negative reviews were also not published.

I'm not cancelling my card, just the Privileges Pack.

I don’t doubt that your negative review wasn’t published. They didn’t publish mine until they could say the problem had been rectified. Easier to simply ignore a difficult problem.🤬

I wanted to pay for a camper pitch at one of their location but than i needed to subscribe to their privileges pack. Than i wanted to do that but upon reading that it is purposefully difficult to unsubscribe i decided against it and ended up looking somewhere else. There is nothing i hate more than anti consumer practices. I WANT to pay for your services but not for you scamming me with this kind of bs. Anybody got any other good recommendations? I dont mind if its expensive i just want it to be consumer friendly.

Lol i looked it up, it is actually against the law to make unsubscribing more difficult than subscribing. If you can subscribe online you should be able to unsubscribe in the same way. That makes this privilegespack actually an illegal organisation. Not a good look for them.

There are lots of great aires in France, some free, some paid, so lots of alternative options.
CCP offer a good service in that you can be pretty certain of what you'll get, ie clean and working services which isn't always the case with french aires.
I've never subscribed to the privilege pack so never had to unsubscribe.
I'm happy to use them if they're in the place I want to be.

We use CCP frequently when touring in France. We tend to check the reviews in advance, never book ahead, and have never failed to find a place.

However, we try to arrive before 4pm as that allows us to beat the “rush” and have a look around the immediate vicinity on the day of arrival. We then decide if we want to spend just one night or more there.

Never found the need to pay for the Privilege pack.

It's worth continuing to read their T&C as they state:

In accordance with the provisions of Article L. 215-1 of the French Consumer Protection Code, CAMPING-CAR PARK informs you by dedicated email at the earliest 3 months and at the latest 1 month before the end of the period authorising the rejection of the renewal, of the possibility of not renewing the PACK'PRIVILÈGES with a tacit renewal clause. As soon as you receive this email, you have a period of 1 month to inform us that you renounce this tacit renewal by post (at the latest 1 month before the end of the PACK'PRIVILÈGES validity period) to CAMPING-CAR PARK (Service Résiliation PP - 3, rue du Docteur Ange Guépin - 44210 Pornic - France).

Of course and typically french, they have not fully thought it through as if they only tell you 1 month in advance you may not be able to comply with the part requiring you to cancel at the latest 1 month in advance.
