Hi. I am currently in an area of France with lots of Camping-Car Park aires. Not a member, but local tourist information place has given me a card. Anyone know how I activate it? Only option for a newbie that I can see on the app or website is to buy a card for 5 Euro but that would then be posted to my home and so useless on this trip. How can I activate the card that I have been given? Have I missed something? There is a helpline in Belgium, but I guess that will cost a lot per minute! Thanks!

Go to a machine, that should be able to help. It will need to be registered, I think it can be done at the entrance to camping car aire. You can call them from there they speak good English.
Thanks!

If they just gave you a card I think you will need to register it, should be able to do it on the machine at the entrance, if not try their website.
Also their call centre has English speakers.

The site we went to had a machine that issued the card as well as registering it - really very slick , shame I was already a member and had left my other card at home :-)

Usual procedure is choose English on screen, say you want to become a customer, enter phone number and email address. You will be asked for €5 + the cost of 1 night. The machine will "spit" out a card, drive to barrier, flash card on green bollard and up goes the barrier.
In future you can enter with zero on card, you only need enough to cover stay to exit.
The card can be topped up on machine, on app, online or telephone.
If you have been given a card (worth €5) you will need to call control and have it registered to yourself. They will ask for a minimum 1 night payment I guess.

If you call them they will transfer any credit on your old card to your new one.
You just have to give them some info. Post code name etc.
But you still have to pay the €5 for the replacement card.

We stayed on 3 different CCP sites on the way south through France and found them to be good. You can pay an extra supplement for the year and it allows you to pre book a space for upto a year in advance which I did and used and it worked a treat 👍

Just to let you know we didn’t try it this time in the end. Found ourselves next to a campsite for only a couple of euros more. I am sure we will use one at some stage!

Just make sure you use a different email when register it as your card at home will already be registered to your email. We left our card at home last year by mistake and just gave them a call while at an Aire and they gave me a free card and registered it to my account.

Hi, should be able to activate at an entrance. We used these aires in france this year and they were great. The camping in the village ones are very good. The app gives loads of info and sometimes your card will get you money off in the area you are in. Hope you get it sorted 👍

Hi All
when you say the card can be topped up at the machine, is this by card or by cash ?

Not used one recently but from memory machines are card only, no cash. If you already have a card/account you can top up online using the app.

We were once on a CCP where we needed to top up to exit, but there was a fault with the terminal. I don’t think they normally do this, but under those circumstances the customer service people did a top up over the phone.

You can top up by ‘phone, online or at terminal. No cash or paper. All electronic.

it wont be long now before many community aires that charge, will be open for you to use free of charge, i had assumed they already would be AND im not referring to Camping Car Parks and other similar commercial aire companies.

Interesting, but where did you get the info from, or just hoping ?
we have seen and stayed on free aires 'out of season' at Il de Re and at La Sables d'Olonne that were free out of season
