We have a Toyota Hiace Duo (by Poplar Motors) which is Currently Sorn but insured with Caravan Guard!
Renewal premium £523, it was £358 with a friend as a named driver (£370 + £88 extra for him)
A bit steep I think!

The Camper is kept on our drive and now only goes to the local Garage for MOT & Service under his Traders Insurance.
I tried Ripe Insurance (when I renewed our permanently sited Adria Alpina Touring Caravan Insurance) who stated that the Camper needs to be Taxed to get Insurance,
so didn't get a quote but may try and get one to see how much it would cost.

Can anyone suggest Insurance companies to try.

I will list all the details in a common e-mail rather than ringing them & spending Hours on the phone.
We are using the camper as a Bolt Hole for a bit of respite (both 80 year old!!)
But a sensible decision would be to sell it (a previous post gave details)
Thanks in anticipation

Hi,
I can't really advise, but I've always thought you can't tax a vehicle without insurance so it seems an odd statement from ripe 😕

I know for a fact that you can insure a sorned vehicle.

Would it be possible to ‘sell’ the vehicle to a trusted friend and insure it in their name?

A-Plan have always been helpful with me for non-standard insurance. They're not the cheapest but still worth speaking to. They might take the view that the risk is lower given that you're not going to be driving it.
